I love the boldness of this, the childlike appeal, the detail and your creative imagination. It is so unlike anything on this site!

Wonderful... the colours here are spectacular and bring the characters to life. I love the magic mushrooms as tents to prevent sunburn, and the cat in the upper right. So much to look at. This would make a great poster/postcard. The lettering here is well done, it conveys mood and is consistent. thanks for sharing.

This is awesome and the details are wonderful! Love the scene and could easily be a child's book cover! The colors are bold and the drawing makes you want to look all over at the beautiful scene! Great contest entry and best of luck!

First off, I'd like to say sorry about the "lower" rating, I hope I haven't offended you. However, I'm dedicated to complete honesty in both my reviews and my ratings and it is this dedication that compelled me to share my thoughts on your work.

This particular work strikes me as average in conception and above average in execution.

This is NOT to say that your work doesn't have merits; it most certainly does. I thoroughly enjoy the mushroom forest in the background (it makes an excellent backdrop), the accurate and consistent rendering of your shadows to create the illusion of depth, and the pretty accurate way that you have drawn Lewis Carrol's characters. Your composition, also, works pretty nicely, as you've made good use of the space in front of you and didn't make anything feel too crowded or too empty, and the circular composition keeps the eye engaged and recycled.

However, I strongly feel that this work was not imaginative enough. I may very well be alone in this belief. But I felt that the point of this contest was to really get the imagination going... to create an adventure and tell it on a canvas. Indeed, Lewis Carrol can provide some of the characters, a starting point for the plot, a conceptual home base... However, there appears to be very little story, imagination, and interpretation in this particular work... maybe I'm being a little harsh since this is an "alice" contest, but I feel like it's the artist's responsibility to really get in touch with his/her imagination and create their own story. This is simply your re-creation of the characters already created and the story already told. The characters aren't interacting here, which I think is the biggest problem. If they had been, you would have created a story.. you would be showing us a piece of your imagination - how you interpreted this particular fantasy story. This is too much "Alice in Wonderland" and not enough "my adventure story as influenced by Alice." My thought cohesion is starting to fade, so I'm going to end my conceptual critique there.. I sincerely hope it made sense to you and that it didn't read as an attack.

In terms of the execution, you already know what I like and I'm also very impressed with how the red queen was drawn. However, I'm disturbed by the shading on Alice's face, as she appears both angry and sunburnt...

Anyway, I really didn't dislike this work as much as it probably seems like I did, and I think you did a good job on it, overall. I do hope I conveyed what I was trying to convey and thank you for sharing this.

now lets see where do i start..ok here its exactly from the rules of the above mentioned topic......Create an artwork in any medium based on Lewis Carrol's Alice. You may interpret(doesnt say i have too) Alices Adventures or through the looking glass, or you may invent some new adventures from Alice....so tell me genius where does it say that i had to create an imagitive story...i am a cartoonist in a gallery world. my speciality(if you hadnt noticed) is to create the artwork that could be advertised like in the movies or magazine. the action has already happen i did this like to advertise the story which would set me apart from the others. As far as her face i put a pissy look on her because this is a story of a child's nightmare. (by the way they dont make flesh colored ink only whats close to it). with the limited amount of color that is offered under ink i cant do like the others here and mixed paint together. oh yeah one more thing..if you look at the size of this work its a 8x11...geez...i am not offended by you low rating (im used to that from you photographers) its the reason of the lower rating that makes me shake my head and say...one mans trash is another mans treasure...however i do thank you for taking the time in your busy schedule in giving me this this review.

Very cute. I like the details in this. It seems you have captured all the main characters in the story. Nicely done.

This is wonderful the way you have done it. I like all the things you have put in this and the way you put them all in the picture. The detail is excellent. I like all the colors too. I like the way you have all the mushrooms in the background. I think you must have all of her friends and foes in this one. I like the rabbit pointing to the watch. My husband could be the rabbit at times. Poor Alice looks a lot like the blood queen's daughter. I like the fancy writing but think it would have been better without the writing. If you must have the writing it would have looked better at the bottom. Alice must weigh a lot from the way that saucer bends where she is standing. A very creative and excellent work of art. Good luck in the contest.
