Lisa this is beyond Swanderful! I for one happen to like your out of the box POV! I am sick of cookie cutter photographers. This screams your uniqueness! I love how you chose to do a denied crop! I am stealing that from Stacey. She used that on a shot I did. Excellent POV, color, clarity and superb details. Bravo!

:) Thank you, Sange! A favorite for me with his elegant lines and rippled stirrings. I'm glad this portrait caught your eye as well. Your feedback and insights are always truly appreciated and valued. Kindest Regards. Lisa

It's gorgeous just the way it is. This is a classic photograph and definitely has that magical feeling. The contrast of the black swan against the blue is captivating. The icing on the cake are the drops falling into the rippling water below. A gorgeous photo, something you don't see every day. I love the curve of the neck. Very well done, a stunning photo.

This one is actually my favorite of the two. To me it's more powerful with the line design of the water rippling out. Glad you liked it too! Your insights, honor of your high rating and commentary are truly appreciated. Kindest Regards. Lisa

You're very welcome Lisa! I have to wonder if this would make a great watercolor or pastel! I'm not sure I could do justice to this beautiful photo. Michelle

I love that arcing body that leads the eye through the neck and bill to those spheres that are falling to that target of concentric circles. The light from a low angle is making making all of the details on the surface of the water come alive with life.

The colors are saturated, with the red/orange complementating the cobolt blues very well. Absolute perfect dynamic range and focus with very nice timing to capture the drops. Works well with the black swan, a white one just would not be the same.

The swan is elegant and striking, captured in a pose to show these attributes. The rippled water and the drops falling from his beak make this so interesting- was he just fishing for dinner or taking a drink? It is a captivating photograph.

:) Thank you, ckbesq, for taking the time to lend your feedback on this image. The swans were both rooting beneath the surface for food during this particular shot. Kind Regards. Lisa :)

Stunning shot Lisa and the black swan does indeed have sooo much grace and beauty! The framing is wonderful and the water ripples from the drops off his beak just add to the image! Nice sharp focus with excellent vibrancy! Wonderful shooting!

This is a magnificent shot!
Just the way you framed it.
Don't worry about what other might say. You wisely cropped it -as you said with greeting card proportions in mind. The space of the left is there if you need it for copy lines or verse of whatever.
And the photograph itself is simply stunning. Absolutely brilliant.
This is a sure winner in my book.
Kudos to you for seeing shot and then capturing it the way you did.
It's among some of the best images posted on here.

I love the black swans and you have done exceptional work with this photo. What a terrific pose and with that water droplet falling from his beak! The blue water with the swirls is such a perfit fit for this beauty.

What a beautiful swan. I like the black color on her. I like the way she shows up on the blue water. I like the way you see the water drop and the ripples in the water. I think this would have been better if you had cropped just a little off of the top.
