Very sensitive portrayal of a very difficult situation for so many. Your have composed this very well. Her facial expression has a lot of emotion and feeling and fear in it, all at the same time. Even hope, as she looks out into the unknown. Good work in your wonderful style and technique. Thanks for sharing!

Dear God, this image and your very true notes made me sad:( Every time I see a homeless I think that I can be one of them so I thank God and try to do something to make some change in their lives.. Your image truly gives the feeling of a homeless person.. Thank God you didn't draw the child whit his face towards us otherwise his expression would break my heart:( Colors you chose are wonderful. The blue of the sky and the green of the field contrast beautifully.. Great concept and wonderful image!

I find your notes quite touching because it is true more so that the tougher times are here. I can't imagine what it would be like to be homeless. The saying I like is "There but for the grace of God, go I". I can't understand what makes people so high and mighty to look down on these helpless people. You caught her look of concern very well. Good luck in the contest.

The story in itself is worth a 5, but, the inking takes a long time and detail is so important. You have added a lot of texture with the stippling and such. I like the textured look in the road and pretty much the grass. I understand how hard it is to not get that line thing going on but, I could do without it in the sky. You've done an excellent job telling this story. Keep on keepin' on!

in my medium the lines cannot be avoided...sometimes i can get them to work in the picture other times its just there..so i have told others..if your gigging for that then do it every time because that part will not change...im glad that you have enjoyed this and really do appreciate the detail great reveiw.

Terrific use of color. Facial details are wonderful. I can feel the pain just looking into the persons eyes and at the expression captured on their face. Have a Wonderful Day!

mk flood, this is another very clever art work you have done the story behind it is very true, the anguish in the mothers eyes really comes through, the child leaning against her,the road to no where behind them-inspired-!would like to give 6 but sadly used them up already.

I started to give this image a very high mark for creativity and sensitivity but something seemed wrong.
Then I remembered, this is a painting based on a photograph by Dorthy Lange. I believe that if a person is to plagerize, they should provide attributation to the source of the image.

Very nice depiction of the despair of poverity. Excellent use of color and nice placement of the person in a place desolate and full of despair.

Richard corbin as succesful artist would sit in front f a mirror basing some images of his face to create his famouse charaters. leonardo devinci is believed that the mona lisa eyes and nose was based fom his face. i took the expression from the mother...in black & ite and not with any help with the computer(like a lot of you do here) and borrow 2 images and and did the clothes a little different. what the hell is the difference of an artist paintng a scene a person sitting in front of him altering clothes curroundings and create things on paper. so i am proud to say that i have captured the image of expression..no diffferent if you were sitting in front of me and me creating images all around you. so as far you trying to gig me for creativity i believe your just trying show that you are so knowledge like you have caught me at something which your really not and no diffferent from so many artist out there(professional im speaking of) so the old saying goes so tru...one mans trash is another man treasure...oh by the way plagerizism is coping exact from others...go look up your photo and thanks for the review anyway.

In the field of law and copyrights, your image would not pass as being a new work of art and you could be sued for damages. It is an almost exact copy of another image, the fact that you did not trace it has nothing to do with it. It would not bother me if you gave the proper attributation to the original artist but to pass it off as an original work of art is to me a bit offensive.

trace?...now im insulted but what do i expect from a photographer who shoot flowers all the time...how about this just do me a 1 star and say it looks like crap. and no i would not be in fringe copyrighyt law....why do you think there are so many different brands of funiture but same style. they do something different with same concept. look up the USC code of laws on that and know before you speak and go shoot a flower or something.
reply by Cephus on 15-Jan-2012
You do some nice and interesting work and I am not insulting your talent or what you do as the insult that you passed on to me.
I am not arguing the law with you and I am not insulting your style of art. I am just stating that you have used a very direct copy of an copyright image (owned by Corbit) and did not bother to provide a sourcej, which I initially thought was a great representation of misery until a bell rung. What you do is up to you. You apparently are sensitive to the issue or you would not be getting so hot under the collar.

the nerve hit on the word trace....i havent trace anything since i was 4 years old...that hit the nerve....i sit on the side of a road and draw people and create things around im not going to say oh i was sitting on the road and capture these people faces and decide to put this and that around....sorry...i draw..i say the message and leave it at that..its up to the viewer to go from there...sorry the trace word had me hit the ceiling but im over it now..have a great day.
reply by Cephus on 15-Jan-2012
I never said you traced it, I said although you did not trace it has nothing to do with it.
I have never copied anything from someone else. I agree what some of the others do here is very much less than ethical and I will mention it when I see it. I know that some of the paintings here are copied from the photographs of others. I also find it sad that some of the people here are buying their ranking with cold, hard cash - I think that it is sad and they are fooling nobody. Rankings on this site are a joke.

I do flowers because personal reasons do not allow me to travel or schedule my time away from the neighborhood and I live next to a major botanical garden.

Have a great day and do not listen to me as I know nothing as I am just a flower photographer.

    Have a great day.

that is interesting about buying the rankings for some...but what i have seen in the top 10 traditional artist catagory is excellent and they dont have to buy there way for thier excellent style and talent, they would be wasting the money..maybe in photography and mix media section they are doing that...i dont know..as artist we have learned so many things by the influence of other artist. i can see someone copying a mona lisa to the exact and claim creation that is questionalble. since the dawning of photography man has taken many of us to places we have never seen....feel that we may not ever have felt and influence us in our everyday lives like tv, movies, and magazines. i would be sick and bored if i had to draw my surroundings everyday. Fantasy is my main nature of drawing...but when i do tributes i have to get references due to the era of time and place....so no i dont worry about plagerism...because ill reference from it but wont copy if to the exact. i do listen, i picked up painting...(this is ink markers not a painting) so that tells me you werent really familar with my material (understandable) then you make an attacking remark of plagerism which i never gave any indication of my step by step on how i created this(im offended and do believe that was being used loosely without knowledge of that) and that set me off temporary and i do apologize normally a calm man, until falsely accused of something. i see a thousand flowers it seems and i always review the basis of the shot and the creativity the photographer was trying to project. i just thought thats the way we all are suppose to be honest enough to do...dont you think so? and i really admit i get sick of looking at flowers but i cant take that attitude with me when i review it would be truly bias and unfair to that artist. i can only speak for myself..how about you?

In looking at your work initially, I thought that you had done an excellent job of depicting despair, then I became disappointed when I realized that this was an image that was already burnt into my mind. In a case like this, I believe that without providing credit where due, you were taking undue credit.

If someone does a painting on one of my images without permission, I will become rather angry but I have no problem at all to give anyone permission to so do and have several times in the past.

I am not always right, but I do try to be honest and say what I believe. In reviewing someones work, I winn not down rate it becasue it is not my cut of tea. If somebody riles me, I will not review their work as I feel as I may not be able to stay objective.

All of our past experiences and images seen become a part of us and will become a part of what we do.

You attempt to excape through your creations and I do the same thing, just in a different way. At times I have wondered if painting is easier than photography as you are much more free to depict what you feel.

I can say, without giving names, that the art side on the site is not as pure as you have stated although it is much more difficult to float to the top with crap on the art side but there are other ways of cheating.

We have some differences of opinion and this shall remain but the important thing is that we both are passionate about what we do.
reply by the author on 16-Jan-2012
on the passion i agree that is true. i reckon since i am not of party to this corruption that you talking about is why i am holding onto that ignorance. Is the administraion involved with this? i dont understand the importance of doing that. all i am trying to do is pursue my dream in the commercial art feild with my style and technic with a message for the viewer.i havent seen anyone at any website galleries that i am a member off do that technic. i have never proclaimed anything else, my creation how i based a facial in black and white photo and created everything around it is not being creative? then i agree thats you given right opinion. i respect it but dont agree with it.
