Nice job.
The soft lighting really sets him apart from the deep blue water.
The focus is great, showing the feathers on his beak.
Catching the blink half way is pretty cool.

Excellent!.. Simple and clean. Nice composition with just enough of that head and neck to give the view a very pleasant close up. Nice eye light and a very clear presentation. I am guessing the focal range was near your 300mm?.. No matter a real beauty...dennis

I did not know all this - thanx much for the great lesson - and the image. Would a touch more crop off the top help (1/3 thing). Great clarity and detail in the heron. Thanx for sharing

This is a beautiful capture of a heron. I like the form created by the curvature of the neck. I like the contrast between the bird and the dark blue water. You did a wonderful job cropping the picture.
