An amazing capture and great timing. Like the detail in the bird and the position of the wings add interest. Good clear view of his fish and well placed in the frame. An excellent shot and best of luck in the contest.

Very lucky shot! Right place at the right time. You shot a the perfect time as it appears the bird was about to escape with its lunch, judging by the light. Nice detail shown. I like how you captured the wings opened. Only thing I think would help is the cropping. Taking a little of the right side to fill the frame with the bird, bringing it closer. It is a great photo. Good eye and again right on with the timing!

i read the title and looked at the picture and thought he didn't fly away, hence the title. then i clicked on the larger image and saw the fish in his mouth! and i loved the story behind this. i'm glad the little guy was able to get something to eat after a rough few weeks with below freezing temperatures!

Very nice shot, the fact taht you caught the bird and fish, you grabbed it with clarity and detail...the legs on this little guy are perfect to hold him up but light for the flights ahead...thanks for sharing
