I had to check if this was yours, and it was. It is not many other members who can beat you when it comes to photographing bird. I like this original approach to the contest.

Your focus is really pin sharp showing great details in the bird. Every feather is so well seen and clear. Also the exposure is spot on and the colors are nice and natural. I think this is one of your best, but I am not allowed to give more than 5 stars.

The placement of the bird within the frame is perfect, and I like how you left some negative space in front of the bird. The cropping also works very well. This is really an excellent shot and I wish you luck with the contest.

Great story and great contest entry.
Your focus and clarity is so well done, that I can literally see each feather on this very interesting bird. I really like how you have captured him with his wings spread out so nicely - your pov has captured a nice wingspan. The water truly is an ice-blue color which adds an appropriate feeling of cold.
