The simplicity of this illustration is very appealing. However, I don't believe you can call it cubism, which sets out to show many views of the subject in geometric shapes.

The single view of the subject is portrayed as curves, not angular shapes. You may have got closer to the mark if you drew the 3 blocks of colour as cubes and not rectangles.

If I were to rate this as cubist art, I would give you 1 star, but the work is so appealing, I choose to ignore your comment about cubism and rate it on face value.

This is a great drawing. Nice clean contour lines and shapes. Great composition. Nice apple. Why did you name it Mermaid? Thanks for sharing.

This is very very cool. It could be the cover of a book, or better yet a menu or restaurant logo. Really nice choice of colors. Love the lines and curves. Really nicely done. Good luck in the contest.

I like the short hand representation of the mermaid. It adds fluidity to the composition against rigid shapes and straight lines. The red round apple makes an effective visual statement against the simplicity of its accompanying parts. I like the bare white lower part of the composition. It is like speaking silence! Excellent work of art!

I like this but i can't tell you why. I like how the apple is at the top and the red draws your eye to the bottom. Green leaf and green square. nicely done. thanks.

Thanks so much for your review !! I had no idea why the red rectangle and the red lines seemed so important. Your review helped me to see why :) Thank you for taking the time to look at my picture and to review it :)

I love this simply for it's simplicity. It's like looking at a beautiful ice skating performance that is flawless...it looks so simple, yet it isn't there are many factors inter playing here in your art creation.

Your attempt at cubism is rather different from Pablo's but the effect is felt and I rather like your interpretation better than his as his is too cubist and yours has flow (please stop smiling, yes I am saying I like it better that Picasso's)

A female form I see with the apple on offer and an energy in the hips , a procreative energy, life giving. The cubes giving depth and meaning and focus.

Ahhh you knew exactly what you were doing how to give meaning and enjoyment to your art....simply, solidly and powerfully.

I do not know what to say (lol). I am speechless in front of such a great review and so so glad you liked this picture that much !! Your review is quite appreciated !! It was pure inspiration: one of these pretty rare moments when you feel as if you knew exactly what to do, without having any idea where it is coming from and without having any clue if others would see it as you saw it... So, even if there was only one person on this planet who would see it as I saw it, it is such a gratification !! Thank you so much !!

I'm basing this on a scale of 1-5(1 being the lowest, 5 being the highest)

initial impact-4
creative presentation-5
center of interest-5
technique-4
story telling-5

This reminds me of a woman's figure, with an apple where her arm would be.

Well done!
