This is a very good photo of a flying heron. You must have taken hundreds of photos of this bird. I also think the shine of the water in the background looks nice, but in this case I think I would have cloned out the tree stump in the left corner. I think your composition would gain from it and become even stronger.

As usual the focus is sharp showing fine details in the bird and I really like how the light is falling on the bird's head and neck. Very fine and natural colors.

I also like very much the placement of the bird within the frame and how you have given it enough room to fly into. It is a nice balance and DOFF in this image. I wish you luck with the contest.
