What a pretty Sunrise. I like the details of the Clouds and the calm water before the storm. Good focus, colors and lighting. Thank you for sharing, good luck on the contest

What a gorgeous sky you have captured Cleo. The color tones have great range all the way from my favorite purple to palest yellow. Good movement in the water. All techs are well handled. Our saying is "Red sky at morning, sailors take warning. Red sky at night, sailors delight" Seems sad that such a pretty sunrise warns of a coming storm. Best of luck in the contest!

Thank you!!! :-) Your review and your wishes mean lots to me.
I know that saying too. There is even a variant were sailors is replaced with shepherds. There is also a mention in the Bible.
The evening reds come for the same reasons as the mornings, but than the sun is west; what means the storm is west of the location most likely moving away. :-)

I didn't know that it was in the bible. You have taught me something new!

In case you like to know it is in Matthew XYI 2-4.

the darkness on the edges really draws you into the photo.

What a wonderful capture of the fiery sunrise. Lovely colours and light. In my part of the UK we say 'red sky at night, shepherd's delight. Red sky in the morning shepherd's warning.'

Certainly a high impact photo, which is enhanced by the interesting story line and the warning waves in the water. It is hard to tell where the horizon stops and the clouds begin. Colors and focus are excellent. Nice work

Thank you, I appreciate your review.
I have trouble to find the horizon line myself.

This really is a beautiful shot of an all time favourite subject matter. The colours are awesome and the fading light adds mystery. Finely composed and timed this makes interesting viewing!

Very good subject and composition. Colours are fabulous and the combination of sky and clolud formation is really something. I just wonder whether your horizontal axis could be improved.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your review. I wonder myself about the horizon. I cannot find the horizon line in the for sure. Do you see it? Can you tell me on what side it is tilting and how many degrees it needs to be lifted. The land left is a cape going upward and no help for the horizontal line. Only the ocean can be trusted. [I consulted my program, but it is telling me the horizon line is already level.]

It certainly does not look level. Look at the vertical on the sailing boat in the foreground as well, you will see that it is off centre. I would also check the capacity of your software. I can fix it for you if you want to e-mail to me.

Thank you! Good tip. My software certainly has the capacity. It seems more to be the capacity of my eyes what is low. :-)

Send it to me at tramhannan@gmail.com and I'll use my software to correct the problem. Only too happy to help.

    Thank you.
    OK, try it.
    What software do you use?
reply by terry1938 on 24-Apr-2012
I've sent on the corrected image. It accepted some horizontal straigtening with my software ( Corel PaintShop x3), which I think improves the photo. Hope you like it and thanks for your nomination.

A wonderful entry into the contest. The colours are phenomenal and they demonstrate that the Gods are angry. The clouds give us texture and an opacity. Well composed and great artist's notes my friend. Good luck in the contest. Cyn
