Geez, I bought a macro lens for my camera and I can't even get anything near this good and close. Excellent job. Love the great focus and details. Very well done.

Technically, this is an awesome photo. Thanks for including your notes because immediately I thought... macro lens. I'm now looking at Olympus cameras... back to your review.

The sharpness of the legs and hair is absolutely astounding. You have cropped and composed the photo very well. Good luck in the competition.

Thank you so very much! I have an Olympus E3. They have a new model E5. They have the same sensor which is very good. I like the lenses too. The 300mm is the largest lens Olympus makes so if you think you will ever want something stronger you may want something else. I paid $1200.00 for the E3. The E5 is $1800.00. Unless you have plenty of money you will be married to it and this is true of any camera you get.

Thanks for your reply... I have a Canon t1i and have been struggling but I'll be coming into some serious money soon so thanks for the info about Olympus.

Is this really how a fly looks like this close. Not exactly a beauty queen, but for sure an impressive shot. This is actually even more impressive considering you were not even using a macro lens. That fly must have been sitting very still.

Your focus is pin sharp showing really great details in the insect. I think you could almost count the hairs on its body. Also the exposure is spot on and I like how we can see the shadow from the fly. I agree with you about the feet. They are just awesome.

I also like very much the tight cropping and the placement of the fly within the frame. You did a fantastic job with this one, and I wish you luck with the contest.

An extraordinary macro shot. Such amazing detail - all those little hairs and the furry face! Great focus and depth of field and I like your composition and cropping too. This should romp home in the contest! Good luck with it.

Ewww gross, the only reason why I give it 5 stars because how you was able to get a close up to this nasty looking fly!! After you took the picture I hope you killed it!! Even in a close up they still look nasty!

Thank you so very much! This is nature! You don't harm nature. Besides that I was in the car and could not reach him! He was about four feet away.

Wrong. Its ugly just in human eyes. It is a beauty from the point of view of a Robber Fly. What an excellent capture. Outstanding detail. I could count those hairs. Great natural color. Fine DOF to bring color and detail to attention. Nicely framed as well
