A spectacular bird for sure. The colours is its feathers are wonderful. I would call it tones of slate blue. Looks like he is fishing and studying the water intensely. Very good capture which you have framed well. Spot on focus with lots of interesting. The reflection gives you two views of the bird for the price of one! Natural colours too. Good Luck in the contest.

Absolutely fabulous capture of this magnificent bird. What a great place to go and get bird photos and how nice that it is near.. Exceptional presentation with the bird's reflection and also the trees and brush. Truly, you are a master of bird photography. I have never seen one of these birds in person, but always enjoy seeing their photos on the site. This is just extraordinary!

Seems like you are repromoting some of your photos, and then you could not have picked a better one than this. It is very special with a perfect reflection of the bird in the water, and also with the autumn colors reflected so nicely. The bird is standing out from the background in the most excellent way.
Your focus is spot on and sharp showing clear and well defined details in the bird. The exposure is perfect and the colors nice and natural.
This is an excellent shot with a perfect DOFF, and the image so nicely balanced in all respects.

Wonderful capture! These guys are certainly worth looking for. Beautiful, graceful, often so still they don't look real. Really like the fall color captured in the water. Bird well focused, shows detail both in actual bird and in the reflection. Well done.

I like your composition, the piece of wood works well to separate the bird from the reflection and the warm colors reflecting in the water offset the cool colors of the bird. Beautiful detail in the feathers and the eye is tack sharp. Nicely done. Terri

Thank you so very much! They are skittish here too. I use my car to get close to them and shoot out the open window. This does not work every time but it helps.
