Hello, Your picture is perfect and the contrast of the red to the green is awesome. But I would have never understood what this was without your note. It surely doesn't look like a flower as the angle should have been from the side showing the stalk.
Your talent is great but your subject is a bit too weak.

Thank you for your review, This flower has no stalk as stated in my comments because it is not a flower, but a blossom on a tree way above the shooting point. A angle from the side would not make much sense to me because the focal point are the dew drops which would not reflect in an other angle; not to mention that this shot would not be possible; hence the position of the blossom on the tree.

I like the striking color you captured, i like your focus and clarity. Increasing depth a tad could have had an interesting effect especially with the water drops at the base of the flower. Framing and handling of the light is good.

Thank you very much for your review and your input, truth I do not understand your critique. Truth it is not a flawless garden variety, but to me this chopped up wild blossom shows the reality and true beauty of nature better than any hybrid in a garden. I do not understand what is wrong with it.

I don't mind this, and the greens and red/orange work well together. I also like the few drops on the flower and the story you wrote. Lighting is ok, but i would have liked a sharper focus, though what you have isn't bad, but could be abit sharper.

Thank you very much for your review and your input. If subjects at different length, it is only possible to focus on one subject at a time. In this case I focused on the water drops. If I would have focused on the flower; the water drops would be out of focus. In my opinion the water drops are more interesting than the flower, plus from the same position of the camera those water drops would cause a foreground blow if the focus would be on the flower. This would be very distracting.

I agree the water drops are important, but if you took one step backwards, you would have gotten it all focused, the reds and the drops. I do it with my bug shots sometimes. I'm really close, but want to get more in focus, so i take a step back, then i get that bit more i needed. Maybe something to just keep in mind, and see how it goes.

I really did not want it all focused. Sorry for being unclear about this. I even used the selective focus. [Probably with auto, it would have worked from this position since I used zoom] I wanted the water drops only, because I find that more more interesting. Maybe wrong? If flower and drops are in the photo the interest on it get divided so flower and drops each would get 50% only; we would not have a single subject of interest but two.

the drops make up for the holes ! Nicely framed. Great pov. Awesome clarity and dof gives nice separation from the background. Colours are quite stunning. Top shot.

This is beautiful the way you took it. I like the way you have placed the flower in the picture. I like the way the green behind shows off the red of the flower. I like the way you see the water drops. An interesting picture. Good luck in the contest.
