They have there own beauty and this photo sure proves the point. Good use of the black background to really make the white stand out. For some reason the center is not a sharp as your other work. It could be the upload.

Thanks so much, I think it was the upload as the original is good, I find resizing loses a little also. Cheers Mary

white is always a favorite for me. The dark background makes the best contrast and shows off your camellia. Good focus and nice control over the exposure. Very impressive shooting.

Mary, I love the feel of this image. It feels like a pillow, softly textured and I see you used a tripod? (cough cough cough).

I do have to warn you about that very close crop at the bottom. I know when you go to the print shop to have it printed they will cut a piece off...it's happened to me so remember to leave a touch more space. The negative space, I think, could be better balanced as well. Look to the upper left/mid section of your image, in the black part. Can you see a little white blob there? You can easily take that out, I think it would make for a stronger image, don't you?

Technically the image is well done with you white meter well calibrated. The stamens are sharp and well focused and there is really nothing in the image to compete with the elegance of this flower. The ambient light is appropriate as there is no harsh shadowing and the colour saturation is perfect. Your pov is appropriate and contrast is good rendering a very pleasing image.

Hahaha I couldn't use the tripod because of the crowds, they were queueing up behind me patiently as I took the photos - a couple not so patiently :)
Can see what you mean about the cropping will keep that in mind. In this instance the display flowers were closely packed in on a long table so was trying not to get the camellia below.
As always I appreciate your review Cheers Mary

Great shot. I love the black background. Very crisp and clear. The flower should have won. The blooms look very fluffy. Great job:)

Wonderful detailed image of the brilliant white, with the yellow in the middle. Good dark background, really makes the white pop. Clear bright image and good framing.

Another Mary gem, love the dark bg, great close up focus with a bright exposure still showing detail on the white subject. Good one Mary. May not have been a winner for the judges, but a winner for this site.
