I really like the fall colors and the dreamy softness of the background.
I also like that the biker seems to be enjoying the view of the fall foliage.
Nicely done Cleo :)

Thank you very much for your encouraging comments! :o)
That biker could be myself. I loved to ride my bike when I was a kid.

This is just ever so charming, Cleo. I really like the impressionistic autumn background combined with the more defined bike and rider. Fits the nostalgic memory theme perfectly. Very well done!

I really like the simplicity of this art. Your textures and colors in the background fall landscape are very well done, and look beautiful. I also love your subject matter, that is really cool. Great job!

I love the colors and presented. It is look very simple but I know water coloring will be tough. But I really like it. I love cycling all time.

Having been a somewhat 'strange' little kid my own 'childhood memories' revolve around...more 'unusual' things but that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate this fine looking and pleasingly colorful digitally painted 'Memory Scene' that you've presented us with,my friend!
It makes for a 'Good Show'! : )

This is a most amazing painting. The softness, the warmth, the glow. I sense a contemplative emotion in the human. Love it!

Even from your description I do not know how you did this but it is a great piece Are the techniques you mention part of software or literally paint. Whatever it is clearly a winner

Thank you very much for your great review and the surprise of such a high rating :-)
It is all software, but the technique is very similar to traditional painting. I use a mouse pad moving the tools around with my fingers. It is a bit like having brushes on the tips of your fingers. But to paint this way at need experience in traditional painting. The computer screen is to small to paint on the whole picture. So usually I scratch a picture and put it into a raster of nine squares. Than I work on the squares separately similar as working on a mural. The program is an relative inexpensive digital program called ArtRage. If you want to try it, there is a free trial available on line.

Comment from Life is but a dream.

Not only a splendidly coloured fall painting, but also art that is full of nostalgia for me, pulling on a longing in my heart for another time, another place. Here you have managed to capture (as we say in the photographic world) two punches.

A warm and lovely story of a time and place where a slower heartbeat prevailed.

Vertical and horizontal lines bring calm and stability , curved bring movement and dynamism. The soft shoreline creating a sense of peace and the distant hills done with a soft colour wash. The sky wet on wet flowing and not competing with objects within the frame, well thought out.

Tonality of dark to light and with full range presiding giving depth. The hard human figure , drawn in good dimensional proportions against softer hued trees provides for our eyes an overlapping thus creating a three dimensional feel. Forms are clearly defined.

Compositionally well balanced consideration given by artist both in placement and framing giving symmetrical stabilizing solidity. Shadowing has been taken into consideration and is realistically applied giving further depth of 3D.

Colour palette realistic and relates directly to theme. Colours range from saturated to subdued giving a naturalistic feel to a dreamy watercolour. Opposing colours have been applied contributing to a very visually effective painting.

Contrast between human figure drawn in perfect symmetry as juxtaposed against whimsy of semi-surrealistic background gives the story of the artwork a compelling dream like quality and makes this an eye catching and enjoyable image to study. Thank you for your creativity and art.

Can't believe you only had two reviews on this very touching and sensitive image. I can so relate to pausing and looking over one's life as much has passed by, and there is still more to come. Such a well composed rendering, and I love the colors, to me, representing the autumn of our live, often preceding a barren time, but with the hope of springtime on the far horizon. Just such a lovely work! A special pleasure to view!

Thank you for your wonderful review. Your review on this one means a lot. [The two reviews are do to the fact that it was in a blind contest and not promoted.]

Very nice piece of artwork. Your technique looks like watercolors. The Fall colors are soft and blended well. The sharper image of the child and bike the main point of interest.
