I love its pale green-ness - so unusual, like a newly unfurled beech leaf in spring. Great detail of the proboscis feeding from the highlighted tip of the cone-flower!

If I had a six you would have received it. Amazing lighting on this little guy, and the first things I noticed was how you could see his body through the wing. Second this I noticed was the super clarity and the color.

What an absolutely beautiful nature photo this gets a 6 from me.
Perfect light control, DOF,and colour work.
Pin sharp detail on the butterfly and the flower heads.

Great capture. Beautiful focus that shows fine detail and texture in the butterfly and flower. As you say the angle of the sun through the wings is first class. Background is well suited with colour and soft focus. Crop and composition are great. Well done and good luck in the contest. Bill

I have never seen a butterfly like this before not even in the museum! I like how the sun is shining through his/her wings.
