I was so sure I had reviewed this photo before, but obviously not. I really like the way the light is shining through the wings of the butterfly. It is possible to see the shadow of the body through the wings, and the butterfly has got such rich green glow.

Your focus is spot on and very sharp showing clear and well defined details in both the butterfly and the flower. The background is nicely blurred for the butterfly to stand out in the most excellent way, and the exposure is perfect.

The tight cropping and the placement of the butterfly makes this to a fine composition. This is really a beautiful photo, and well taken.

Excellent image. I agree with your observation of the translucent wings; but I wonder if it would be possible to increase the aperture just a tad to sharpen the flower? Also wonder if slight fill flash to illuminate the foreground of the flower would be possible without killing the translucent quality?

Thank you so very much! I think the fill flash would have worked.

Wow, I've seen, and painted butterflies in the past, but nothing, and I repeat, nothing, compares to this. It is simply Magnificent. The creature, the flower, and the light shining through, completes for me, a magical photograph. I am not a photographer, so I speak simply from the heart. tremendous.

A brilliant stop action picture of this Sulphur Butterfly supping nectar from the center of the flower. The backlighting is a added bonus. Superb composition, framing, camera techniques & razor sharp focu.
