OMG how DO you get this kind of shot, it is fantastic! Great composition, love the way the pine branch "leads" right to the cardinal. Lovely contrast between the sharply focused and muted portions of the image. Timing is good with the positioning of the bird. Very flattering use of light.

The colourful bird is a good size in the picture and is sharp wher it needs to be.
The tail is slightly hidden by the branch which is a shame but it doesn't spoil the picture.
Nice background.

Like how we see him, extending body forward, profile showing the shape of his crown amd beak.
His red color is striking, and the black markings give him even more interest.
His eye is clear and reflecting light.
nice focus revealing the defintion of his feathers and textures of the branch.
Like the curve of that branch and it contributes to the composition as do its needles that not only provide color contrast and backround, but also complete the semi-circular frame (that the branch starts) around the bird.
Good light.
nice blurred backround with pleasing textures.
well done.

I can recognize your photographs even when entered into blind contests. This is another fine profile of a bird. I love the composition of this shot. The colors, clarity, focus, and contrast are all great. It was a pleasure to view.

A lovely up close and personal view of this handsom cardinal. Almost gives the appearence that this pine tree is in a warm climate.
Excellent depth

Thank you so very much! The climate depends on the time of year. This was taken very early spring last year.
