Love the pose Mr. P is giving you.
You managed nice clarity in both eye and bird along with fine feather details. It is your background that is a bit busy and it takes away from the bird. You now know how to get those smooth backgrounds.
A fine shot anyway! Bravo!

Wow JOhn, thanks so much for this excellent rating. I really appreciate it!

Definitely a very beautiful majestic looking bird.
I think you should choose six of your very best bird pictures, put them in their own book and submit them to the diamond committee for a diamond award.
Excellent work.

Just make a new book in the same way you made your other book but take some of the best out of the six star book and put them in the new book. Then buy a diamond review certificate and put it on the first picture in the book and that sends it to the committee for review.

The colors are wonderful, and I like the point of veiw, showing beak, eye (with catch-light) and head-feathers, long curving neck and some of the body feathers.
Not sure about the crop..seems to be just a little more than needed up top, and not quite enough in the direction he looks. But you know, I might be wrong. Sometimes I can't tell about a crop, until I've looked at it in a variety of ways. This might be the best way.
Exposure is good, giving brilliance to the colors.
Okay, it's about the HDR. Was it the Picasa HDR filter, or did you do a combination of exposures? Looks like the Picasa which seems to work more with definition than exposure.
I feel, in this case, it compromises the quality of the picture. It looks oversharpened, kind of grainy to me, so have graded down.
Great subject and well worth more pictures.

thanks Phyllis, I think this one was done HDR in picasa which I have now steered away from. So you won't see more of those in the future :) I've now upgraded and use more topaz than anything else just to bring out some details. Thanks so much for this most informative review. I like how you notice things. And comments are what I look for to better my photography so it is most appreciative. :)

Interesting shot of a peacock. I think your decision to frame and edit your shots make them stronger. The shape of the neck is perfect for the focal point, and the detail of the feathers and the brilliance of the colors always make peacocks fascinating subjects, this one works, many don't.

Blue beauty is right Eileen, beautifully sharp image and just love those metallic blues of the Peacock.

Great DOF work with the background and those colours seem to blend with the Peacock.

This one is really perfect as he by himself is showing all his royalty and you got him from the perfect angle with perfect camera settings in portrait frame - perfect position to show im with a closed wheel just like he is with a very interested look - good contrast - I would have added a tiny bit of sunlight to give him the last perfect touch - try it out - stunnung shot

I so love how you focussed on the blue of the face and neck area. I really like the white patches on and around the eye and beak. I so love the little fans of feathers on his head. He really looks mazing to see!
