A great close up. Excellent focus and attention to detail. I like the defocused background which really adds to the 3 D effect of the image. A great bird shot. Good framing and good job.

I gree the female is just as beautiful as the male. This is not always the case as we know! Great shot with the sunflower seed in the beak. The feathers interest me with their light rusty tone mixed in with red. Very good focus showing up lots of detail, particularly in the head. Nicely framed with blurred background.

Yes they do pay you back with their beauty. You have wonderful focus in this photo with all the feathers clearly defined. Also the face of the bird. The blurry background only adds to the intensity of the bird. Excellent shoot. Good luck on the contest.

Your close up is amazing! You can see every individual line on the feathering and I love what was done with the contrasting, gives it a little bit of a golden hue. I love shooting birds as well and this photo is great! Would to of liked to see the whole body.

Thank you so very much! Getting in this close is the point. If I show all the bird you could not see the detail. It is a trade off.

The detail and clarity is bitingly sharp you can almost reach in and touch it.

Wow! This is a great nature photo. The color is wonderful and the details found in the bird's feathers, beak, and eye are first rate. The use of a narrow depth of field eliminates unnecessary distractions.
