Wow. Even back in 2013 you were very skilled with digital art. The horses proportions are true to life and the various shades of color really make the horse stand out. I am so glad you are reviving your old works. Very interesting and a pleasure to look at. Hope all is Safe and Well Cleo ~ Steve

Thank you Steve, for asking. All is save and well around me. :o)
Thank you for your kind review. I need to post something until I can make my programs working on that cursed laptop or the people will stop believing my competence at reviewing art. :o)

This digital painting is very well rendered. Lovely smooth finish. Fineness of the features well drawn. The shading is just fine. Overall a very good effort.

Hi cleo85,

Hope you are well and thriving in these uncertain times. This is a lovely gift to your friend - I like the very soft focus of the image which makes the horse look very tender. Thanks for sharing this :) R

I love horses and used to own three of them, every time I see one in a photo or an art piece, it makes me miss them. This is well created with nice shape and structure on the horses head, i like the chestnut color with the white place and the pretty highlighted mane. It's a nice profile view against the pretty blue sky with such realistic clouds that give a sense of motion . Well arranged and presented!

Cleo, It's a great piece of digital art and fine dedication to your friend. The use of light and shadows is excellent! Good forms and proportions. Nice contrast with blue sky. Thanks for reposting this one!

awww what a lovely thoughtful idea. He is a right little cutey. Gorgeous eyes and I do like the whole softness given on the brush strokes. It has an unbeat and cheery feel to it, perfect for what the intention of the piece was for. I bet they were touched by this token of thanks

Such an interesting technique Cleo - and one that has produced a really lovely image with a gentle softness to it. The variations of tone in the coat and mane are so well done and I love that gorgeous big eye. It's such a joy to make friends on the site and I'm happy for you that did so with ckbesq - I'm sure she'll love this!

Thank you for another very kind and encouraging review. :-)
I am just exploring the digital watercolors. As with the traditional, it is a very different work than oil. The surely mix better, but different than digital oil. The idea to finish with a oil brush and the knife was almost an accident, because I couldn't get the details right with the watercolors.

Well a very happy accident - it worked so well!

Thank you very much. I am still experimenting with the [digital] watercolors. I tell you a secrete. I found out that the work is a lot different, but much faster then with [digital] oil and the colors are easier to mix. Truth I did not find out how to do detail with them. The trick of finding out about the oil finishing was almost an accident.

Love the soft look to this work Cleo, the horse looks pretty detailed but a smile to his beautiful face. The blue sly draws all the attention to the portrait and the shadows and lighting give the lovely fella some wonderful depth. I am certain Ckbesq is thrilled having this one dedicated to her!

Thank you very much. I am happy you like it. I am just exploring the digital watercolors. I usually paint with [digital] oil brushes.
