Emerging Flock

A flock of Ibis seems to emerge out of the grass

I think the key to this photo's being remarkable is the repeating pattern of the ibises. In the foreground, lower left quadrant, there is the more tightly-packed together group and of course they appear larger than the more "distant" birds, giving the pleasing sense of three dimensions. Also, the birds are not all oriented the same, so it's like we can get a complete view of an ibis by looking at all it's view (profile left/right, frontal, posterior) as represented by different critters. The green setting is great! Nice work.

Wow, what a great observation and not one I've made myself. Thanks so much for this wonderful rating!

People see things from different perspectives. I play chess a lot and spatial qualities stand out to me.

The flock of ibis looks great. When I see a large flock of birds I try to set my camera on fast shutter speeds and then get as close as I can before they fly away in the hopes that I can get a good flying bird shot. Plenty here to practice on. I wish those gardens were close to my place.
Great photography and post processing.

They were quite fascinating to see when I was there and they do seem to come out of know where! Will have to have a closer look at the grass next time! l.o.l. A lovely shot Eileen with the focus primarily on the center Ibis's. May I say the exposure seems to be a bit off but blow out is really minimal for all the white birds Eileen. Lovely framing to include the whole gang into the shot! Vibrant and a wonderful scene!

Mary, good to hear from you! I think you and Sange were with me when I took this, I can't remember since I'm there all the time. Was not my best shot, but saw some potential in it. Thanks so much for taking the time to review. I hear the zoo calling our name next time you are in town :)

Not sure either but remember a ton of these guys surrounding us at one point! l.o.l. Yes should be fun and looking forward to it!

This is one very interesting photo. The repeated shapes of the birds creates a composition in itself. While the birds are alike the photo does show that each is an individual. One of the great features of this photo is the variation in white values among the feathers.

This is amazing Eileen looks like you have got hold of these and just dumped them in a random pattern and they stayed there.

I also like the contrasts between the whites and greens that makes a very interesting subject and study.
