The flying Heron is standing out so well against the green water, and I think you have captured some great colors in the bird as well.
Your focus is pin sharp showing clear and well defined details both in the head of the bird and its feathers. Exposure is spot on and the light is falling on the bird in a really lovely way.
Even if we don't see the whole bird, I think the composition works well with enough room for the bird to fly into. This is a well taken photo, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Wow! This is a very good capture. It is amazing the colour, the beauty, and the slenderness of this bird. I have seen Herons but we do not have blue herons in this area. Great capture.
