I fell for this one at first glance..it is like a cyclone of beautiful lights! It has a sense of spinning, and also rising. After reading your notes, I can see the tree and lights, but I think you have made someting very unusual and unique from it..I think it is a winner! Donkeyoatey

Thank you so very much!!! That lifted my spirits :-)
Yes it dos have that sinning and rising as if something magical is hidden there. Something which seems is pure energy without matter but has a mind of its own. It is not frightening but hidden to human encounter. :-)

Visually very exciting to look at! It does appear to be a dance of the lights-actually looks somewhat like handwriting/scribbling! Just taking the center portion would make an excellent abstract! Very creative! Jean

Thank you! :-) Taking that center as abstract is an excellent idea. It would look best if printed on fine canvas, I think.

Crazy design, but lots of fun. One would not have suspected all the work that went into making this pleasing picture. Looks like a cyclone of lights. Nice job.

Thank you very much. You are right I could have it called cyclone of lights. It is not much work what wend into it. The movement comes from the way of taking the photo. I only used one distortion filter. Not more then 5-6 hours, probably less. I'll send the original.

A real special creation and presentation - amazing idea that lets your creativity and vision shine - great color combination, warm effects - looking like a vortex spiraling upwards - great technique, wonderful contrast letting some energies waving through, splendid work- well done

How unique and certainly looks like somewhat of a Christmas tree with all the brilliant lights circling the tree. The movement of the lights is so unique and seems like something that would take a lot of patience too perfect. Love the b.g. and makes the image just dance ! Excellent contest entry!

Thank you very much. The technique is not quite that complicated. The trick is just to walk in the right speed. It is somewhat like a reversed painting with light. Wile at light painting the lights are moved in front of the camera by a person covered in black, I move the camera over stationary lights. Sure many of those photos [about 50%] do not turn out. There is a third way when both, the camera and the lights are moving. That indeed is a complicated timing. I have currently only an about 15% success rate with it.

Well doesn't sound too bad, and your success rate is quite impressive Cleo!

No, not to bad. I admit I needed some time to come to that success rate. Colored lights are not available all the time. Christmas is the best to try, than they are everywhere. ~Cleo

Yes will have to try it out one day. Sounds like fun!

a really good compostion. i tried to photo my tree at x-mas with mixed results but this is far more creative and artistic. a bit out of season, though really well done and the quality result is very well achieved. excellent use of post production in which you have produced a work of beauty. you could have called it 'the ghost of christmas past' haha.

Thank you very much for your review and the terrific rating. Of curse its the ghost of Christmas past, but don't tell that the audience... I was hoping I could go by with that. [he,he]

Oh, I appreciate the compliment. I thought I am just a medieval witch. Don't put yourself in stone age. You do not belong there, beside you would look funny in Fred Firestone outfit.

I have no idea about filters etc that you have used but this is very similar to taking fireworks at night and your heartbeat gets in the way. Lovely colours and movement.

Thank you very much!!! You are right with those fireworks. Now were you point it out, I see it too.

That's a really clever technique that's produced an abstract work of art! Excellent post editing to bring the whole thing together. I just love the sense of movement here - the title is perfect! I wish you luck in the contest Cleo.
