I LOVE LOVE alligators. They are awesome prehistoric killing machines. So interesting to look at and study. I would be shooting these guys all the time if I could. Great capture on this guy. Nice pearly whites too. Beautiful color and clarity.

I had no idea they could still see with their eyes closed. Maybe they are just sensing you are there? It's amazing what you can still sense with your eyes closed.
The photo is good but on my screen it looks very grainy. Not sure if that is due to the ISO being too high or to over sharpening which can also give a slightly grainy effect. If you still have the unsharpened original, try tonemapping instead of sharpening and see if that gets rid of the grainy effect.

OMG - what a great portrait of this crocodile - his teeth are amazing but I love him with the mouth closed like you got him, LOL - very nice close up, clear in all details he really is a master of hiding - his eye nearly disappears inside of his skin even being open - the stuff on his face is helping him to hide as a part of nature - you got the perfect frame - perfect contrast and a nice Goosebumps shot

Excellent!! Outstanding!! Nice edit of taking lure out! Next time leave more room in front of gator. BUT WOW! IMPROVING! Great Camera techs! Yipppeeeee! A mini me! Lol
Great detail and yes..gators have two eye lids..one for under water which is what he has closed here. He can still see with those closed!
We were Respectfully close unlike some fools who were there!
Nice shooting and edit! Bravo!

An imposing portrait. Like the shot of the teeth. Good you weren't too close-they can be mean. My daughter sat on a few of them for an article she wrote for a magazine-the biggest being an eleven footer. Had her hand in his mouth-I guess there's a method to doing it right. Anyway-this is a neat picture. He looks like he's enjoying the sunny day. JD

nice shot, really like the close
up. Super job. The color of the gator is so realistic. The lighting just enough not to be overexposed. Good shot.
