your write up is very interesting, I have never heard of this plant but you have captured this well with good focus nice sharp details, the colour is really nice and shows texture around the edge of the buds..thanks for sharing this

Nice close up of this very interesting and pretty red plant Mary, it does resemble a kangaroo paw. Nice sharp focus, dof, exposure and framing;)

great detailing, makes one wonder what it actually is

the focus could be shrper and the light could be placed at a different angle to completely light the subject

Good shot of this strange plant. Cannot grow them in the UK except in pots but then the winter weather kills them off. Strange flowers though or whatever these furry like pieces are called! Like your shot with the flowers leaning towards you. Background green tones are pleasant enough but I hate the vignette. Don't like these anyway but in this case makes the picture look all too dark. Very good framing though and focus is strong on a few of the flowers, but softer on others, as expected with a shallow depth of field.

Thanks Susan, appreciate your positive feedback. Tossed a coin with the vignette but still unsure myself :)

What a peculiar name! One can immediately associate this with Australia!:) This is a beautiful shot of the flower. You have framed it well. Light and sharpness are very effective in creating a lovely capture. Good effort!
