If this one is not the best; the others must be amazing. This portrait here taken from distance is surprising clear and shows amazing detail. But by all technical perfection, the expression is what captivates the viewer. Seeing humans, he seems to have the same emotions toward them; the humans have toward him. The intelligent eyes show no fair; but alertness and interest. Best luck for the contest.

Thank you so very much Cleo. I have one photo I think is even better, and the reason for not posting it is that I thought I should save it for a contest. These wolves were so lovely, and looked really healthy.

Beautiful and it's all in its eyes. I hate to say this but you will never in my life time top this shot. Focus is very sharp, colors and texture great depth and beautiful markings. By the way, wild?, I see no aggression in his face and he is alert. You may have better shots of wolves but not in expression. It is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

OMG! This is a fantastic photo of this big predator of the north. We have wild ones here in the States as well but I've never gotten a photo of one. A beautiful animal watching you very intently. Love those eyes and its fur is beautiful. Sure wish I had a six left to give you for this photo. It's excellent!

Wow what a handsome story and picture, seems I have to come to visit Scandinavia which was always kind like hidden in a drawer of my brain - I love wolves and I have a strong connection to them - handsome capture even from far you got a perfect zoom setting, clear and sharp in details - his coat is showing the shift from winter to summer and there are still some parts left to fall off - amazing angel and position looking in his eyes from front seem we are looking directly and personally at him - super calm background which are a perfect add to bring the focus on the wolf only - super contrast , nice frame - great adjustments, perfect presentation

Thank you very much for the lovely review Regina. The wolves were so beautiful, and this is the first time I have seen them as close as this. Of course they are not as free as they would be in the nature, but they have been given large areas to move in, and they live as close to natural as possible.

This is a great shot of the beautiful wolf - he looks so calm and not at all wild! I like how you've framed him. Lighting and focus very good, showing great detail in the markings of his fur. Very nice composition.

Looks a pretty good capture to me. Looks almost friendly, but I'll take your word for it. Great focus and d.o.f. for a long range shot, well done.

I appreciate the way you establish rapport with this one and have that eye to eye contact which seems so close.
Very sharp capture of the facial features and fur.
The grass adds a wildlife touch and fresh contrast to that intense stare.
Brightly illuminated.
Aesthetically cropped.
Excellent focusing.

Great looking shot!. Fine example of wild life photography. Your timing appears to be perfect and you have captured the alert look on wolf's face very well.
Thanks for sharing!
