Look as if the moon is lighting him up. I can tell this is a juvenile because of the colors. He will soon turn all black and loose the green, blue and rust colors.
E, I can see your bird shots improving and I love how you now, take your time, check all settings before shooting.
You have been my shadow now for several months always thinking you were not good enough, When in fact you were. You like Dorothy from Oz, Only needed guidance, patience, and some encouragement to own your talent and take pictures from your artistic POV.
This shot is Clean, clear and oh so Beautiful.
Bravo! I am so proud of you!

A beautiful bird for sure. I like the adjustments you have made to this photograph, especially the darkened background. Gives a really dramatic look to the shot. There is enough light to see the outline of the bird, plus the colours in the feathers. Light is reflecting on his head and leg too. Very effective and very well done.

You did a beautiful job of making this look like it was taken at night. I imagine the moon filtering down through trees and lighting it up. Very lovely work.

This is an excellent artistic, documentary image, like one would find in a bird book, except it's not hand-drawn but an excellent photograph. The dappled light is perfect as an image of the creature "in situ" or in it's native environment which would greatly aid the bird watcher in recognizing the sought-after bird. It's a very nice treatment.

I like it a lot! The lighting is mysterious and surreal, the pose is amazing, and there is a bit of melancholy emotion and a shot as well. I very much like the darker background. I have no more sixes, this deserves one. DonkeyOatey

WOW! Great impact...love the low light it adds to the drama and to it's name, Night Crowned Heron....focus is sharp and a nice pose captured...the dark bg keeps the viewers eye on the subject...well done!

I gave this photo my last saved bonus star because of the classic initial impact it imparts to the viewer. This Night Crowned Heron live up to its name by being illuminated in its beak part while leaving the black flat head dimmed.
The eye contact is irresistible. Pensive as if soliciting your mercy not to kill any of its brethren anymore.
The soft downlighting from the shoulder, wing, then to its knees, is aesthetically spotted on as if its hiding inside a cave with holes on top letting the light source seeps in.
I just love the poster finished look of this Eileen Danielson copyrighted masterpiece.
No flaws to point out whatsoever.
Thanks so much for sharing this...
