This must have taken ages! Cleverly and patiently done. All those dots have made up a perfect impression of the stampedeing Bison. You can see the movement and the never ending heads of the herd in the distance. Great stuff!

    Esther,
yes, this did take time to figure out how to get the effect and then achieve it, so it looked somewhat real.

Lucien,
A wonderful picture full of action & hidden sound in my minds ear I can hear the thunder of hooves & see clouds of dust rising as this heard approaches & passes us. Wonderful choice of colours used & their application by tiny dots o create this image is both expert & life giving to the animals you have drawn.

Having recently started trying my hand at pointillism, I truly can appreciate this drawing. Not only is it beautiful from a distance, but has its own unique fascination close up. One thing that strikes me is how you created depth by using more dots in the fore ground and fewer as we move deeper into the image. Thank you for showing me such a wonderful example of excellence in the technique. cainse

    cainse,

thank you for having taken the time to look at this piece & the support it is appreciated.
Yes, I was trying to show the effect of dust and then the form of the additional animals as seen through that haze the dust would have created, I thought that spacing and opening up the dots would create that effect.
I really like the pointillism technique and the challenges it presents as you try and create textures using just the dots.
Thanks again fro the time and critique.
    Have great day... Cheers!!!

    jesuel,

Thank you for the high praise in how you rated this drawing.

The challenge was the creating the many shapes and then showing them in less details and still capturing the motion/ momentum of a stampede.I like the colors and the earth tone with the various shades of oranges and browns, the combination add depth and perspective to me.
I liked the results created by the limited pallet.

Thank you for your time in looking and writing your critique of my drawing it is very much appreciated on all counts.
    Have great weekend,

This is one of your very best, Not only that you brought pointillism to perfection [again], you gave each of the animals in views has individuality. In the background, defused haze and dust, seem many more animals following the leading group. Most amazing is that you have given the impression of dust in the air; kicked up by hundreds of racing animals. It is not photo realism, but the situation is realistic, just as I have seen them in Hayden Valley [Yellowstone].

    cleo85,

Thank you for the high praise in how you rated this drawing. People that have seen the drawing have offered me photo's they have taken of the Bison at Yellowstone, in hope I will use them as t reference next tine I draw them, which is to me very high praise of the work I do. I will be posting more in the future.

    You're most welcome.
I agree. The leak of detail and the colors is what make this picture special. That is what gives the impression of dust created by hundreds of stamping hoofs. The amazing thing is that the viewer dos not registers a leak of detail, due to the individuality of the animals in good view.
    Cheers
    Have a nice week!
