What a great close up, pin sharp, these birds are notoriously difficult to capture I believe , always on the move. Lovely colours and framing, well done.

Great close up of cardinal. Excellent texture, light, clarity, and sharp focus. Beautiful reflections in the eye, like the fine details of the feathers, good DOF and nice frame. Well done.

A wow shot as w all know how small these birds are - in addition you got a special effect as he just caught some food having it still in his beak - super macro - super focus, amazingly sharp in details - perfect soft background - great frame - amazing composition, perfect lighting - all the best for the contest

great macro shot one can almost feel his beak pecking not sure what he has in his mouth great focus pin sharp and clarity top marks with good position of full filled frame eye so bright and piercing like he is watching u frame him well done thanks for sharing

An excellent close up of a bird. I have seen these before on FAR and they are very distinctive with their red beaks and touches of red over the eye. This chap has a seed in his mouth. Like the perspective, showing the profile. Colours are very natural and your framing, focus and lighting are excellent. Good Luck in the contest.

great macro ! the layer of thin feathers surrounding the eye, the hair like strabds below the beak is amazing, the purity in the colors, especially the beak all add up to an exceptional photo

I have been on FAR for a year and this is the first time I have ever been embarrassed to award someone a five. I would probably feel the same way about a six for that matter. This is a tremendously composed and focused image. Such fine clarity I have never seen in a bird before. If I were I were in the contest I would pull my entry right now. This is an amazing photograph with beautiful detail and color. Personally I have always thought the female cardinal was the most beautiful and you have just confirmed it.
