WOW, butterflies are normally so beautiful to capture because of their colors, however this shot shows the texture and design that are often overlooked when seeing the color.
Wonderful technical ability and post processing work made this a fabulous shot!

You are not exactly overflowing the site with your postings these days, but since I know you enter a few contests, I just have a look at your portfolio now and again. I have to say that this is really an excellent entry for this contest. I never thought a photo in BW of a butterfly could be so lovely. It is really great contrasts in this photo, and the butterfly is standing out from the dark background in the most excellent way.
Your focus is also pin sharp showing clear and well defined details both in the butterfly and the flower. Really good distinctions between dark and light areas, and perfect exposure.
I find nothing wrong with the composition either. Your photo is neatly cropped and the butterfly is well placed within the frame. This is indeed an excellent macro shot, and I wish you luck with the contest. I am so glad I had the 6 stars to give you for this one.

WOW! What a surprise! All I do anymore is enter the contests. I don't see much point in just posting and promoting. It is a great way for beginners to learn and to light the fire under them from all the good reviews and helpful pointers that you and others give out. I still review a few but I seem to never have enough time. I was shooting a wedding Friday and Saturday last week and have been working hard to finish that. It is a great thing to be very busy working on something you love!

I bet you will get grief for making this black and white. But that is the contest! Superb clarity! Wow! I find black and white photography when done correctly is more emotive.

Thank you so very much! I have heard some complaints about the black and white. I wonder how they expect me to enter the contest without it! Sounds like the same people complaining about feet! LOL!

a great deal of the impact of the original is lost in knocking it down to B&W. I prefer an image with strong graphics and compositional appeal rather than exceptional color for this treatment
