Nicely composed , simple very pretty flower that stands handsomely on a black background.
It's very photo real with its shiny green leaves and detailed petals and flower face.
Very pleasing image, well done.

Nicely edited photograph Diane with brilliant colors with the look of a fire in the center. This twisted brush has given the piece a soft glow to it, surrounded by the vivid green leaves.

thank you Geokat, but this isn't a photograph, its a painting. I use a photograph as reference for the colors but it's not a painted over photograph and no photograph was used in this piece, so you really paid me a huge compliment by thinking it was a photo. I see a lot of flaws in my work all the time, but when I get a compliment like this I realize I must be doing something right. thank you deeply for making me realize I must be an okay artist. You truly made my evening
    thank you lynnkah

Well it was a compliment too. Some of you artists are really incredible. You do amazing work and this is truly a beautiful piece of work. I just can't understand talent like this. I have been on FAR for a year and a half and I can say is outstanding work.

What a lovely job with the digital work and I am assuming you started with a blank screen and took the blank canvas to this finished piece-it is quite stunning with the complementary color palette of red and green and the burst of a yellow star shape on the petals. Good placement of elements and tonal range gives this a 3D look. I do like the two green leaves peeking out of the left side, very well done!Jean

Yes Jean this is a painting completely done from a blank canvas. I have been complemented greatly on this piece by some thinking it was an altered photo. But no, I painted it with Twisted brush. Your are far too kind with your words Jean and it means a lot.
thank you so much for being so kind

A dessert rose. How beautiful. It is so photo realistic and full of detail that it almost looks like a photograph.
Did you used photographs as reference or did you painted it after nature?

I pull a few different pictures off the internet to use as a reference. I wish I had the ability to paint from memory but I'm just not that good. So I use different photos and do a sketch from what I see, scan the sketch then put it on the bottom layer of twisted brush, then use the colors of the photos as references to match the colors as closely as I can./ That is a huge bonus that twisted brush offers that a lot of programs don't. al I have to do is use my curser and hit the part of the object that I want the color from and the program automatically matches the color, from there it's painting as the rest of the programs, except of course the 3D ones LOL.
thank you Cleo for such a kind review as always it means so much

Reference is fine, but why do you pull them from the net, when you have me? I have lots of tropical flower pictures I probably never use. The only thing yo should never do take a photo and paint on top of it and call it your own without telling its brushed. Some do it, but its sheeting. If it is a copyrighted image you have to ask the photographer, even if you use it only as reference.
Hope that clarifies things for you.
I don't know if it is a advantage if the program match the colors. If the program does it, you never learn to mix your own colors.

to be honest when I first started that's what I did to get my self back into drawing again. It had been years since I did any sketches and completely lost my edge. so after a couple, which I never posted, it all came back. I wouldn't say I'm the best sketch artist. I'll email you some of my sketches and you'll see what I mean. No I don't paint over photos anymore and I never thought to ask you for photos of flowers. I just glance thought Google until something strikes me. It's amazing how many times I've been asked that same question, if I painted over a photo. I see other artist on here that are excellent and they don't seem to get the same question, should I be offended or complemented not sure. Seems I'm being called a cheat, although I think the 3D programs are more cheating than any other form of art, although I do like them, and you really confused me here consider none of the photos on Google have copyright protection on them, if they do its a watermark. so are you saying you think that my work is really less that and I'm doing more cheating than my own work. now I'm confused. I'm not being offensive just confused with what your asking
    thanks again my friend

Uhhhh! Where did you get that? It is not true! Some Google images have copyright on them, other do not. The therm Google uses "Download for personal use" is misleading. It does not mean there is no copyright. Just think of the big lawsuit Google was facing a while back withthe performing artists. In the wag of it, thousands of videos, especial from youtube were taken of the net, because they violated the rights of songwriters, singers, etc. Just think about; there are Images from NASA and the Library of Congress, or just National Geographic and Smithsonian or so. Do you believe any of them would wave their copyrights? Not to mention the works of Picasso or Dali.
Don't be offended if ask if you paint over photos. Its in the nature of the [digital] beast. I think it is not as much what you paint or how it looks. You need to specify your comments and write what you do. [The box on page one of the entry page]. go to my portfolio and look how I do the write up and comments on my pictures.
Writing "painted with twisted brush" is not enough. Especial since there are tutorials which teaches the brush technique on photos. To brush photo is permitted as digital art on FAR, but the brushed photo cannot be post as digital painting. It has to be posted as Digital Composition if it is a stock photo, as Mixed Media if it is your own photo.
I hope I did not confuse you entirely now.

wel I suppose I need to start sueing people then. Ihave had somany of my paintings taken off of google it's unbelievable, but personally I always saw it as a complment when someone repost my work on facebook where they downloaded it or other sites. My work is prettymuch all over the web. I know quite a few arist on here that do he same thing, they use the internet to use photos as their back drops or in their art, so I didn't see it a problem unless it has a watermark, like stock photos do over them. Using a photo of someones as a reference to paint is normally a complment to the photographer not stealing their work because I didn't paitn over it. It seems I have offended yu in some way and for hat I am sorry. I know your ging thorugh a hard time, but I'm not the only artist that does this nor will I be the only artist thought history that does this, look how many times Mona Lisa has been repaintedm did they have the orginial artist permission? I'mnot the artist you are nor will I eve be, some day maybe, but as frnow I need a reference. I told tom this and he seemed to think it was alright when I explained to him the same thing I did you, as long as I didn't paint over it. also I keep getting told mixed information on here about how much information to give out about how something was done. when asked I explain everything down to the last detail. most artist if you notice never even write anything on what program they use or how anything was done. again I'm sorry if I have offended you in anyway. This site has so many difference of opinions it confuses the heck out of me, one person says one thing another says another. I told donkeyoaty that I was leaving the site this year after my contract runs out. I'll stay on as a standard member but not post anything else. It has gotten way too competitive for my taste and the rules never stay the same. what one person likes another will tear apart, the best artist hold the lowest rankings while the not so good artist hold the top 2 rankings, never made since to me to begin with. Doesn't seem its about the quality of your work but the quantity of it. I care a lot about you Cleo so again I hope I haven't offended you but for some reason I feel I have and I'm not sure why. Take care of yourself. I do care a lot about you and always will,. You are one of the biggest influences I have had on here. I luv ya gal so take care of you.

No you have not offended me in any way. I just try to keep you out of trouble. What I write does have nothing to do with what we think is right or wrong, only with the establish copyright rules. If somebody posted his work on line means not an automatic copyright. Only if the publisher registers the copyright, he/she can claim it. It gets very important if money gets involved. If you sell a picture were you use somebody else work in, that somebody could sue you if that somebody has her/his copyright registered. On registered works is usually a copyright sign similar to the sign we have on our artist page if we register our work with FAR. Copyright law suits could be very expensive! Much more then the sell of your work brought in.
Mona Lisa is a bad Example because Leonardo died 495 Years ago. Copyrights expire usually between 70 and 100 years after the death of the artist.[Even there are some exceptions].
I send you some webpages with information.
I get confused myself sometimes. That is why I never use anybody else picture without asking first.
Of course any photo is fine as reference. Nevertheless it is better to write in the comments I used a photo/photos as reference. I do that even if I use my own photos. That will take care of any questions a viewer may has.
If you know who is the author/photographer of the works you use as reference asking the author would be a courtesy.
There would be a lot more to write, but I am running out of time.
    Take care

What a rich and electric look! With our schools canceled tomorrow due to extreme cold, it is lovely to see such a fresh, spring like picture. I especially like the presentation, a bit side on that makes for super nice depth. the colors are warm and rich, and the glow is very pretty! Donkeyoatey

thank you Barb. As with all my work I am always seeing flaws. if you noticed the date I painted the is in October but kept working on it over and over again seeing nothing but things wrong, finally I had to just throw in the towel and call it finished. Your review made me realize I did the right thing. Thank you deeply for the best complement I could have been paid
you are always far too kind

It's about time you posted this one! I love the brightness and the boldness of these colors. Not only are the colors beautiful, the depth that you achieved in both the flower and the leaves is outstanding and the detail is excellent also!
This is a definite six star piece of digital art!
