I really have an eye for potential winning photos!
I know this one is every inch a winner!
Creative concept. Innovative approach. Imaginative presentation. An artistic rendition. Monochromatic colors against a dark backdrop. Excellent details & features. Impressive subject & textures.
Thanks for sharing...

Hi Dick, I originally posted this about 3 years ago, so I'm very happy you came upon it. This was just one of those lucky moments when my timing couldn't have been any better. Needless to say, I was SO HAPPY that I could capture it and show it here at Fanart. Too win the macro contest was pure joy. Thank you for your lovely review and Congratulations! I am honored!

Tell me.. did the spider rebuild her web? if it is still there take some more shots!
And thanks Sweet lady..It offends me only because I helped them and instead of talking it out..they muted me like a five year old.

Wish I could take more shots, but I took that shot in 2010. JUst been waiting for the right time to show it. I do have another shot of the spider with the leaf from a slightly differeant angle. THink I'll post that in the future.
I was out today taking shots of ICE! It was about 12 degrees out. My camera felt more luke an ice cube than a camera, needless to say I didn't stay out long. I live in New England and we're in the midst of the Polar Vortex! Brrr

    Sending you a cheer-up PM
reply by Sange on 23-Jan-2014
we are in that vortex too! But it is 38 outside and 57 inside! I am in thermals and a hat! and my Chihuahua is on a heating pad!
My camera fogged up when we were shooting at dawn. it was 30 degrees and I guess the view finder fogged from the heat of my face.
No where what you have but too cold for my blood!

I can SO picture that! LOL
I have a helpful hint for you if you haven't already tried it. My Father was a professional photographer and that's where this advice comes from. Keep your camera and lenses in a sealed bag until they have a chance to chill. It keeps the moisture out from the transistion from hot to cold or vice versa. Hope that helps!

5 stars for the picture and 5 stars for the story. Great capture of the spider, his body and legs. Good focus on the leaf with great colours.

The spider is the same color as the leaf it is attached to. How lucky your are. Love the detail, the creative balance, the simplicity of all of this.

WOW! This looks like a Winner. Love the color contrast between the dark background and the gold spider and the autumn leaves. Love the clarity of those silky thread and their patterns, as well as the prominent veins of the leaf. Superb focus, showing the magnified version of the spiders legs and its hairy parts. Technical excellence, lighting, framing and presentation, high five.

This is a beautiful choice for this contest, in my opinion. The detail is incredible. The hairs on the legs and bits of web very nice. The spider being the same shades and colors as the leaf is amazing. I would say this was the catch of the day. The lighting and the black background perfect. Just read the story! Loved it! Thanks for sharing.
