Lovely color and fine clarity Mary. Nice details from center to outer petals.
Nice to see a clean flower shot where all is focused.
Cropping is a bit tight on the left, but I am sure you know this already.
You did fine despite that bit of space needed.
Nice work! =)

A very sharp image with intricate details and outstanding color. I feel that this one is cropped just a bit too tight. I feel the the edge of the subject should not touch the edge of the frame in most situations.

Thanks Mike - common comment re tight cropping which was suggested by someone when doing a face on flower - won't be doing it again I can assure you :) Mary

They are such beautiful flowers. Love the dark background, good full frame look, focused and with a nice exposure to show the delicate details.

Great macro, good color, maybe a slide to the right, would have completed the entire flower. (some people may get fussy about that) Yellow is very hard to capture, but you did a great job!

Thanks Marla appreciate your comments - find it interesting the varying views on composition, someone advised me that I should ensure I don't have any outside area but clip as close as possible to the edge when face on flower - but so far most reviewers have said same as you it is a little tight. Will stick with my own instinct in future :)

Excellent close up of this beautiful golden dahlia, showing its intricate petals very well. The dark background contrasts really well. I like the angle you used for this.

Lighting and focus very good showing excellent clarity. Very nice composition. Suzanne

a wonderful close up, just a bit tight; it looks like a glowing sun; excellent lighting and sharp focus with good dof inbside the folded petals
