tdragonfly,
actually everyone gave me the information and the whole thing was my ideas and layout. Of course I had to work with what I was given, and then they all approved it, the gallery and the other artist.
The FAR logo my be obscuring some of that area.
Thank U for the critique of the poster it is appreciated.
Could U go to the tweet button or facebook or both and send the following type of a message, liking it using the tweet button will give it a greater chance of getting seen:
Would love to visit, sounds like a very interesting show, but I am too far away. If U live in that area, go visit the show, let me know what U think.
The more promoting & help I can get doing that the better. And if U can stop on by.
Cheers and thanks again for having looked at the poster and any help you can offer.
Never know, someone in your area may like it and want to pick it and present it to community where U live.

Love this, I do not see where any improvements need to be made. This is very well done and love the color usage. Thanks so much for sharing.

An eye catching poster. But in so far as a poster or ad is concerned I personally feel that it is a bit. 'Crowded'! The message is overshadowed by the artworks. But purely on the basis of skill and showmanship this excels. Thanks for sharing!

I think it looks a little too busy and crammed in. I would leave a space between each image. I would also not have overlapped the bottom image with the writing, but kept it all to the right.

Lucien, I think it is wonderful! The colors are eye catching and the sample images should and will draw people in.
I'm assuming this will be clear to people as to the location without adding the city to the poster?
The drop shadow lettering on the "Headline" is very appealing to me and a nice play on words "2nd Story Gallery"
PS.. good luck at the show!!!

SteveANH,
the city where the Gallery is there on the bottom, maybe the FAR logo obscured it some.

I think using a blue background works well, but when you produce a poster like this your challenge must be to keep it as simple as possible, and at the same time have room for all information needed. Personally I would therefore have simplified the top text and let out the drop shadow effect.
I also wonder if it is actually necessary to show a photo of the place at the very bottom. I think this area of the poster could have looked more tidy with just the gradient background you have already added, and the text.
I also think you should keep the page margin the same on both sides. As it is now it is more narrow on the right side.
The images you have added are placed well, and shows well what kind of work the visitor can expect to find at this art show.
I think the lay out is all together working well, but perhaps with a few small changes. The poster is colorful and should therefore stand out well, and if I had seen something like this I would have been tempted to go and see the rest.

Yes, it makes me want to come and see your show, especially since your name appears there.
Please don't ask me to tweet and FB because I don't live in that world.
I find that the poster is quite professional looking however it also depends what background you hang this up on. If there are other posters around will they compete visually? If this is the only one on a board it jumps out nicely.
There is a visual imbalance of colour and your beautiful lion fish could have been replaced by something as vibrant as Kathleen's work, a piece that would compliment. I also feel that you have too many images up and forgot that "less is more" if you look at the top half it electrifies, the lower half confuses with too many photos. The photo of the Walker House takes away further from the professional look and did you know you can upload images without FAR watermark showing?
I would go to your show in a heartbeat and would invite friends. Sesadri will be in California June 4th...don't know how long he's staying there...I hope he sees this.
Hope that helps somewhat.
