A super macro shot Cleo. Wonderful detail to this rather nasty looking insect! Great clarity and good composition too.

Thank you!
It is not only nasty looking. It is extremely invasive and a great hazard. It seems worth than the Killer Bee invasion.

Thank you for your kind review and letting out your critical comments. I made contact first hand. The bites aren't healed two weeks. Not to mention that they try to kill my garden. I thought showing this ant maybe warns other people.

A great shot with very nice composition and excellent colors. It is my understanding that almost the entire colony consists of females. When a worker is too old to continue her job her mandibles grow larger and she assumes the duties of the soldier as she is more expendable. An interesting and logical society.

Yes interesting and dangerous. They have not spread to Michigan jet but they seem on their way after they have infested the entire south of the USA since the 1930. It is estimated that in the US about 5 Billions yearly spend on medical treatment and 750 million on agricultural damage including livestock. Be prepared. The favorably travel with nursery trucks and fruit cargo.
