ISO is a bit high for your camera Mary, but you managed to get a great capture despite that. Aperture is perfect to give you that sweet DOF and shutter speed is fab to get that stop action on birds.
Nice focus on the ye with catch light! I knew you had in in you to do it! Just be careful with your ISO the white is a tad bright and you will get noise that high.
Superb shooting!
YEAH YOU!

Thanks again Sange, might try ISO800 next time round - had been using ISO1600 for the ones that were more mobile than this guy :) Mary

Mary.. ISO has nothing to do with movement. That is your exposure/light.. Your shutter speed needs to be high for wildlife shots.
1/1500sec to 1/3200sec.
Any questions.. Email me.

A very fine photo of this little guy with his pretty feather colors. Our kingfishers are more blue with some black and white patterns. Nice that he cooperated for you and turned its head for a profile of it. A nice sharp image and fun to see.

Never saw a baby kingfisher before. He is darling. Focus for the capture is very nice and shows details and textures of the bird's face and feathers. Light is also good and brightens his surroundings. Good initial impact. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much, appreciate your positive feedback. This is the full size this particular type are fairly small and colours are very subtle by comparison to the northern hemisphere kingfishers. :) Mary

Thanks for the information. It is so cute I thought it was a baby. I see lots of the big blue ones here in South Georgia.

You got this one just right! I'm glad he was cooperative... because you got an amazing shot!
I love the angled branch that he is sitting upon... it, and its fork, add interest to this well focused scene. BTW: great bokeh

Usually a difficult bird to shoot as they move around so quickly. A very good pose, background, focused and framed to show the cute details.

A fine capture of a sweet looking little bird. Beautiful color, great focus, well positioned. I like the backside view with the turned head.

Nice sharp focus. Is the color subdued or is that how they look. Our Kingfishers, not sacred I should mention, are brighter with blue and orange. Good capture. Cheers.

Thanks JR appreciate your comments, this is the colour they are very pastel compared to some of the overseas varieties of kingfishers. :) Mary
