This is an awesome shot of the lightning! I have tried it and never got a really good shot! Great focus! The initial impact has tons of wow factor! Great job and thanks for sharing! Lilibug6

Good one, I am still trying to catch a lightning shot. A stop action, focused and framed to show the power of mother nature and silhouetted trees or bushes.

I was totally drawn to this photo, I love the light and dark contrasts, they look great.

The composition is also good for me, I like the space on the right and the dark foreground. I wonder though if the lightening is a little overexposed (hence the 4.5 rating)?

Altogether though, a really nice photo, especially for the first attempt.

Thanks for the review. I appreciate the comments. With how bright the lightening was, it was hard to find a good balance.

Wow, not bad, not bad at all, especially for your first attempt.

You did a nice job with your adjustments to bring the background back into a darker mode.

You should have entered this in the Light Photography contest :)

I thought of entering it but I'm looking at something a little more creative. Pushing myself to excel a bit more creatively.

A beautiful picture of the lighting blot with trees in silhouette on the left. The sapphire blue of the sky making a perfect contrast to the bright white of the lightning bolts. Beautiful composition beautiful framing & lighting with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

thanks for the great review. Surprisingly, I did not use a long exposure. I just held the shutter release and let it continuously capture images in the hopes of being fast enough to catch at least one.

is great like that, i use a long exposure 4 seconds or minute, works well too, Jairos

That would be excellent for getting multiples :)
I'll try that next time. I find it's harder now that I've moved to a city from my farm.

Outstanding! This is something I would love to try. This is well worth all the wasted frames to get this spot. It is beautiful showing the full force of what Mother Nature can do. I love the dark blue skies and the brightness of the bolt. What is really cool is that the lighting is branching off in different directions. You nailed it in my mind. thanks for sharing.
