Great idea. The problem with shooting on auto is it focuses either on the closest object, here it's the pipe, or the brightest object in your pic. Don't give up. Shooting this shows you have "the eye"--most people would just walk by this without seeing the potential. I have a Rebel too. They are great. Keep the manual with you and learn it by heart, you'll be glad you did. Cheers, JR

Thank you so much for the imput.i agree.trying to learn my camera.i have been trying to not use auto so much since reading this :)

Welcome to FAR, you will find a lot of helpful people here.
Your picture is a bit over exposed, and your greens have been washed out a bit.

There are some very good websites that will help you get used to the camera and some of the editing skills you will want to learn
