Incredible as always, but then, no surprise coming from you. I can't advise on your work, but I think I learned something from it. My problem has always been "too light" because I was never sure when I would have to resort to my trusty eraser. Now I know that darkness is the way to go. That is the only thing that really makes the highlights pop. I've darkened a few areas in some of my earlier works and it made a big difference. Granted, we don't want too dark, but my habit of being "afraid of the dark" is what kept me from the realism we all seek. I've applied it to my work and it made a world of difference. I may learn to draw like you yet! Thank you for sharing your masterpieces. You are still the best to post here without question. God bless!

Dearest Zeith. You can never go too dark. Before I ever started drawing, The Lord was giving me visions of highlights and shadows. I would envision table legs. elaborate ones. Just the way the light played on the designs. I had no idea, at the time, why I was seeing these visions. Later I knew. I started out light, just because I was timid. I discovered through time that I got darker and darker. It takes a lot of work laying the groundwork. Lots of pencil. But the results are always gratifying.

Your contest win is much deserved. What a beautiful woman captured in a beautiful way. YOU, are so very talented! I love the shading, the tidiness of her hair, her skin looks flawless, and you even gave her that little glint in her eye that makes her come to life. I would have given you a six, but since you have such high praise already, I will save it for someone else. :)

This portrait is outstanding. I can see why it won the contest. Thank you for reviewing your drawing for all of us who missed it back when. You adapted the Victorian style perfectly. The woman is very beautiful. She looks alive. Her eye seems to spray fire. I admire your attention to exact detail. The shading is flawless, The light around her head emphasizes the beautiful profile. The tight framing is sufficient. The portrait is excellently composed and framed.

Absolutely beautiful! She is very well composed and elegant but it seems as if she might have a little fire inside her. I like how just her movement, outfit, and the gleam in her eyes tell a whole story in themselves that the viewer perceives in their own way.
