Hi Cleo!
'Portraiture' is something that I really enjoy creating,my friend, but I'm totally 'in the dark' about who Ms.Schumann is! : )
I'm enjoying your digital portrait painting of her though!

Thank you very much for your encouraging comments! :o)
Clara Schuman [18-19-1896] was a German Pianist and composer. She was the wife of the composer Robert Schuman [1810-1856]. I just do not know how to describe and name her face expression. :o)

Lol! I probably would have tried to 'glam' her expression up a bit,Cleo!
( You know how I like getting my portraits to look 'whimsical' ! )

:O) I know you like it whimsical! :o)

That must be because my drawing style was so heavily influenced by comic book art,Cleo! During my 'first tour' here at FAR I used to get poor ratings on the portrait drawings I'd post because viewers said they 'weren't realistic looking'! LOL!

The mind of viewers of what is realistic changes over tame, sometimes even to the opposite. :o)

I KNOW! Back in 2006 ( the first time I was 'Traditional Artist of the Year' ) the viewers literally 'couldn't get enough' of my 'erotic' drawings ( even the fully 'pornographic cartoon style' ones that I'd post back then! ) and nowadays my milder 'R-Rated' style 'Adult' drawings get boycotted after a few reviews! : D

A wonderful work of digital art. You know Cleo that it is not always necessary to 'Name' the expression.

This reminds me of the Mona Lisa. Attempting to name the expression or assigning the expression a title is not appropriate.

This is one of those wonderful enigmatic expressions where the viewer senses what the person if feeling yet cannot quite precisely explain it.

That is what makes this so wonderfully engaging. Great work Cleo. My TOP Cyber Six for your wonderful work ~ Steve

Thank you very much for your encouraging comments, Steve! :o)
I think you are right. Unfortunately, the contest was asking for the name of the expression. That is my reason for not entering the contest. :o)

Beautiful work! This is realistic and time period in that it looks like a vintage painting. The clarity of her face is pleasing and the light is well done to provide excellent highlight throughout. An appealing work that is well created and pleasing.

I would say she is a little bored and thinking how much longer she has to sit still with this pose - sadness in the eyes as she ponders on life. Well probably reading too much into the work which is done extremely well. The skin tones and Victorian style of dress and hair are shown nicely.

Thank you for the great compliments!
Sadness, that is probably the most likely impression. I just got a lead on the original drawing used for the lithograph in my book, but ha vent seen it jet. I always taught the original might was drawn after the untimely death of her husband which maybe caused the look of sadness and bitter-sweet memories in her eyes. The eyes was what captured my interest most. I spend many hours on them.

A beautiful artwork. It is almost unbelievable that this is a digital art. Because the textures and colors are just like traditional oil painting. It is amazing. The quality is not so far form Leonardo da Vinci's Monalisa...hm hmm

Soft and gentle with a lovely" old world" feel to it, this Victorian lady has such an elegant demeanor.
I like this Cleo , it looks as if it belongs in a locket , as they used to do as a memento of a loved one.
Very nice work.
