Hi donnadian...I am visiting your portfolio as you just today reviewed my Honeysuckle Rain (thank you again for the generous review and rating) and you commented on not getting sharp clarity in close ups. This one is very, very close. And you have done a great job with your white balance..just a little 'blow out' with the top blossom. Your camera setting has given you a depth of field that interferes a bit with your initial subject. If you could blur out that background that would clarity things quite a lot...as this is a lovely capture. I use a tripod for close ups of flowers. And must be conscious of the wind factor at all times. If you can magnify your photo on your back screen before you take the shot you can check for clarity on the smaller parts of your subject. Then adjust your focus accordingly. I would use post processing to tone down the whites just a bit..either in exposure or highlights or even saturation and contrast could control it a bit. Those are the main things I would do with this lovely flower. Your love of photography and your life is evident in your portfolio! Keep shootin!! ~Rebecca

Thank you so much, Rebecca, for this detailed review. It is valuable to me because it has a lot of insight into my work of photography, but also the advice is good and will help me. Lastly, but not least, it seems I just can't get back into the swing of my work, because of challenges in my everyday life.
But this review brings my photography into the present and encourages me to get to work. Thank you:). Donnadiann

donnadian....you are most welcome.and please do not stop shooting. I completely understand the slumps due to other aspects of our lives...whether it be health, loved ones, financial, retirement...etc. etc. I have been there. I find that I have to be just a bit selfish with my time and go out with my camera in the early morning light or the evening light..just in my yard and find simple things. Or now that the weather is too hot...I am bringing flowers or weeds :) in from the yard and posing them inside to practice either macro or close-ups or using light and shadows and reflections. Then of course I get into my computer post processing tools... which I have so much to learn about...and 2 hours go by in no time. And there it was...time for myself with something I love. And the rest of my life seems better. I have another friend who has just retired and has been taking up photography. Our husbands have always been friends but we have connected ourselves now. We feed off of each others ideas and knowledge and have both been enjoying our time spent so very much. Her style is more landscape and mine is macro. She is a calculator and planner and I fly by the seat of my pants...:D So we enjoy this hobby together.. immensely. I am just encouraging you to restart your photography. This Pear blossom is so beautiful. And that began with your vision of something beautiful to photograph. I look forward to viewing more from you!! No races need to be won..just don't quit! Have a good week...~Becky

Thank you so much for this encouraging review, Nancy. Yes, this tree is about 25 feet tall. But it is only a few years old and bears a few fruit yearly:)

nice shot my friend, the only thing is it lacks contrast especially with this kind of a background. light balance is ok. not sure if it is the right one for the contest as it has only 2 colors. apart from that, I like the depth of field and the way you framed it, well done, beny ")

Thanks so much, Beny. Helpful review. My thoughts were: focus maybe not sharp enough and contrast may help. I was just going for white here:)

Pretty! It has a softness to it that is very pleasing to my eye. Nice lighting and colors. I like the way it shows the abundance of blossoms in the background.

A beautiful post. The sharpness and clarity make it so great. The small red spots in the center adds depth. The shape of the cluster is pleasing to the eye.
