Very well done Cleo. This looks so much like real painting. It has an almost 3D quality to it.

The details in the flowered branches jump right out. The green mug and bowel are nicely accented by the blue background.

Great work as always Cleo. Thank you for reposting this beauty ~ Steve

It has a special appeal for me this one. It has a lovely visual impact and attracted the eye to discover all the little details. Technically a copy that is in what looksi like a hand drawn and painted picture. This digital stuff is amazing and your tallent knows no bounds. You have produced a lovely artwork I must ask . This is not a copy. It is drawn brush stroke by brush stroke on a touch pad where I move the tools with my hands. I make a scratch with pencils and than use then I paint just I I do on canvas.
I used to have my work printed, but canvas print got to expensive.

Well I wondered if you had a hard copy as your work is lovely and very good. I sometimes have or prints on canvas made from an outside company I know operate in the UK and Germany. They have very good offers, their work is quite good and reasonably priced. I can let you have the link if you wish.

Thank you very much for your kind reply and your offer. I have to decline at this time. I cannot access any of my files at this time because of technical difficulties with my new computer. I am also not sure of the import taxes I will have to pay. :o)

That's a very attractive digitally painted creation,my friend ,and it's 'Springtime' theme delights me!
My Wiccan associates are celebrating their big 'Imbolc' Sabbath next weekend and ( according to their traditions ) that means Spring is On The Way! : D

This is a beautiful still life! The flowers are so lovely and delicate. You have arranged the flowers so well in the containers. The background is lovely too.

You are really a good digital painter Cleo, and this still life is truly beautiful with the pink flowers in the green pitcher and bowl. As almost always I do however have some comments, and one is that I think the almost completely white bottom is a distraction. The image also looks a tad flat. I think you need more shades in the background.

The shading on the pitcher and bowl is however excellent and as always you have painted the flowers really well and with light and delicate brush strokes.

The way you have framed the work is very nice, and it is a good flow and balance in the composition. I also think this a painting with good visual impact and as always really well done in spite of my comments.

    Thank you very much.
I know you would say that. I said it myself. I made an irreparable mistake. This was an exercise for accurateness after a magazine photo.I was intrigued by the setting of the objects. I tried to stay close to the original. That was the mistake. The photo was one of those digital enhanced, but flat photos. I was happy when I had after a few hours finally the background color mixed right. Than I added the pitcher and bowl and sketches of flowers. in layers. Unfortunately my program got a Memory laps at 88 MB. I just should have taken the background out temporarily, by I idiot merged all layers including the background! The picture looked very much like in the magazine and very flat. So I abandoned my plan and added a new layer shading pitcher and bowls, than refining the flowers. I tried to ad texture and shadows to the wall too, but that did not work out because working on the first layer just does not work with my program, if I put it on top of merged layers. I am working on a different version with entirely different background. That will need a few weeks again, especial since I have some other difficult projects as you know. Thanks for telling me about the table close and the napkin. It seems I have to give them different colors as well.

You are more than welcome Cleo. It seems like you did a lot of work with this image, and then it is irritating when something like that happens. I have had the same experience. Been working for several hours, and then suddenly all is lost and I have to start all over again.

Those things happen, I guess we have to get used to it.

I love the spring like pastel colors and the different shapes. The blue background is perfect as it reminds me of warm spring days. The arrangement is eye appealing. Well done.

I saw this yesterday, but didn't have time to review. Stunning piece of work, Cleo! To me it looks very Oriental... maybe because I'm thinking cherry blossoms. I think you're the only one left who does TRUE DIGITAL PAINTING. It seems to be a lost art with all the photo works now. Love the composition, colors, and the extremely delicate work on the stems and blossoms. Truly among one of your best!! I only have one question: In the photo you used for reference, were there no shadows behind the mug and vase on the table top? I guess that would all depend on how many light sources there are. Regardless, I love it, and I commend you for keeping digital painting in the foreground. Many think it's so easy because of using a computer, but they don't realize the work that goes into digital painting, and I truly believe we're getting shoved into the background by allowing photos into the digital art catagories. "2D digital painting" doesn't mean much of anything to those voting and reviewing anymore. Fabulous on this, Cleo, and well worth a six!! :)shawn

    Hello Shawn.
Thank you so much for you throughout review and the golden stars. Your approuval of my work means a lot to me.
You think right those blossoms are Cherry, the big ones in the bowl Magnolia. it is oriental exept the pitcher and the bowl. I think this contradiction of oriental blossoms and western ceramic was what made the magazine photo intriguing and a challenge. I tried to be as true to the original as possible as exercise of correctness at detail and proportion. [I am in the habit to scratch most of the time after nature and or a bunch of my own photos.] It turned out to be a mistake because I do not like the background. The colors are indeed true to the original. The background did not have shadows. The magazine evidently used one of those modern "digitally enhanced" photos were the background is replaced with neutral color. Dumb as I am sometimes, I merged the layers when I had 88 MB and my program got a memory lapse. Afterwards I found the painting to flat. It looked pretty similar to the photo, but the photo didn?t had depth either. I added some detail and shading with a new layer above but could not change the background anymore. I am currently working on a different version with an entirely different background and some changes in color, but you know how long one needs to paint a piece like this.
Don?t see the situation to pessimistic. There are still traditional-digital painters around, just not many on FAR anymore. Some of the old-timers have their own websites and do well [You might remember pixelartesan. He even was teaching an online class when I heard last from him.] The art world here has changed a bit. Sometime I feel like it turned 180 degrees. When I started to paint digital, digital art and mixed media photography were not considered serious art. We could not even enter the art contests. Now I am accepted as painter by the traditional artists better than by "modern" photographers and digital artists. Funny isn?t it? The traditional artists and some of the traditional photographers write also better reviews because they see the mistakes in perspective, shading etc. Many newbies on the site think we just take a vector background and put some stickers to it and maybe use a couple filters, done in a couple of hours or so.
Some do not realize that we are an art community but mistake our site with a social network.
Nevertheless. I believe that is a trend which varnish as others. Traditional Art was say to be dying when photography came up. Theater was declared dead with the first silent movies, but all of them survived so far and doing well side by side.
Excuse my wordy response, sometimes the story writer comes into my replies.
Thank you again very much. You review is indeed a great encouragement for me.
    Cleo
