Thank you for your kind comment Loyd, I believe you have the same talent I do, it's a matter of learning to use it and it does take a lot of time and focus.

Lovely portrait, eyes are captivating, very natural looking pose without a forced look about it. Flesh colors believable, eyes expressive (eyes are my 'thing'!) and draw one in. Curls appear to be coming from the nape of the neck in a very girlish style. The nose seems to be stone-like at the bottom, but may be the upload which compresses details sometimes ! Lovely background and general overall feel is spontaneous! jean

Thank you for your detailed comment Jean, I think the nose had to be a bit darker in the shadow part, but I double checked the proportions.

This site's uploads will compress sometimes, I see it in my own work and never 'deduct' for that when I review! Going from over 3000 pixels to 750 pixels seems to distort but there is no distortion on this beauty! This is just a stunningly good work, masterfully painted!

This is super. What a wonderful capture of this charming young ladies face and personality. That grin is priceless. It's nice to see that you are teaching. Clearly your talent should be passed one. Wonderful picture. It is compelling. Cheers, James.

Superb portrait Katya, wonderful in every detail. Such a lovely fresh and innocent young girl with gorgeous smiling eyes.
Very photographic and it's lovely to see a portrait in color and not black and white as so many are. I like color as you probably know.
Great talent!

Thank you so much Trish, there's definitely not many portraits in color, let's make some more;))

I could never aspire to the perfection that you demonstrate in your portraits, just not my strong suit but I am totally in awe of others on this site who are so brilliant in this genre.
As you know I love color and my journey at the moment is one of healing both emotional and physical which draws me to creative expressionism and freedom of the brush and palette knife, it's therapeutic and cathartic for me and spiritually uplifting.
Perhaps one day I will be in the right space to tackle the portrait scene.
Maria-Sofia is incredible and I can't understand why everybody didn't give you a six!
I am also at a loss to understand why you did not win the recent Cold Art contest or at least be placed, your piece was in my book, outstanding!
I don't get it and have said this for a while now to the point that I can't be bothered with contests unless they happen to coincide with something I am currently working on.
We are up against digitally enhanced images which I feel is not right and there are now so few straight paintings posted , it is more about technology than actual talent.
Of course there is skill in mastering that technology and I fully take "my hat off" to those who embrace this medium and produce excellent results.
    Trish.

Trish I fully agree about real being against the digital, not just in art it seems like it's becoming the final battle over the minds. I often wonder too, who is judging our contest entries and if they are competent, this is not the first time my work was ignored in this way and winning works did not make sense. You know if you want to get into portraits the key thing is learning to build correct proportions, if you mess those up it will be obvious and I think you wouldn't have any problems with the rest, if you can make your flowers look alive faces should be easy:)) Thank you again for your kind words.
