I can tell you that I would never have guessed the origin of this image, but you have turned it into a perfect entry for this contest. I especially like the simplicity, and at the same time the fine textures you have brought out. The greens are truly lovely and just the hint of light blue shadings at the bottom is a nice touch.
The dark area being the stem of the flower is standing out well, and being the center of interest it has also got a fine placement off to the left. It is actually a good flow and balance in this composition.
It is also very creative and original, and your edit has for sure worked wonders and turned your photo into something totally different, but so pleasing for the eye. I wish you luck with the contest.

Well it does meet the contest criteria. Kinda reminds me of a black swimming worm..wink. the color choice is cool. The shapes and design is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. Creative and good job overall.
