I like it. I especially like that you kept the long aspect of the blade of grass in. Give much interest. Very nice job indeed. I think you have the talent (like I would know :)) to branch out. At least this shows you do.
On a personal note, it's oddly coincidental that you post a picture of this guy because we have had an invasion down here of these flies. My house was full of them. I had to buy a fly swatter and my right arm is sore from using it. I think they're gone now. I did think of trying to get a shot of one but I was too tempted to throw my camera at him. oh no! they are really nasty when in groups. you should get that zapper that looks like a tennis racket. They shock the buggers. Thanks so much for the review James!

Something different for you. Like the green background, good focus and frame. Just me, I would crop more off the top, still a neat view on a common fly.

Aaaah, very cool. Great shot, fantastic focus on this small fellow - got the eye contact... all eyes... LOL I love the composition... the whole blade of grass floating in a sea of green with this incredibly well focused and well exposed insect. Well done with some very fine post work.
