Cleo even though a photograph, one can almost take this for a beautiful piece of abstract work.

Your conversion to Black and White is done with a skilled hand.

I'm loving all the different branches that all have their own shade of gray.

Well done.

Hi Cleo, Looks like you have some nice "icy fingers" here. LOL I don't know who they belong to but i wouldn't want to run into them. Glad you happened along when you did to capture this tree branch. A lot of fun to view and very fitting in BW! Nice Job! :o) Nancy

I guess the fingers belong to Jack Frost.

I at first thought this was a pencil sketch then read your notes. A very interesting work showing the icicles clearly. Hard to believe that they freeze in the wind like that - interesting to view.

I hardly believed myself, when I saw this bizarre icicles.

The black and white way of showing this photo makes me realize how much blue elements are naturally in winter photos like these, and I see how the contrast between this one and those is so apparent. I like how you have this rugged portrayal of icicles, and it makes me wonder how they got there. It's cool how they formed at a diagonal position, and makes the photo more interesting to look at.

I think that the wind is responsible for the bizarre shapes.

Hey Cleo! The viewer can definitely feel the cold in this photograph. Those definitely are bizarre ice cycles, it must have been really cold! I like all of the tree branches in the photo, try add a lot of depth. Good luck!

Cleo,
A beautiful picture of these most unusual Icicles hanging from the tree glistening in the sunlight...for some reason it reminds me of "Struwelpeter" I had the story book as a child with the original drawings. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

I had the "Struwelpeter" too. The icicles look like his hair I think.

What an unusual ice formation. It almost looks surreal.

The black and white appearance makes for a more dramatic look and feel. It have the feel of being harsh weather.

Good work and thank you for reviving this image Cleo ~ Steve

I love ice and icicles, these are very large and in interesting forms, like giant carrots.
You have captured them well with good focus, this image is clear, lighting is well managed, nice Black and white conversion works well . This is a good entry for the contest, I can see the cold! Best wishes to you!

Yes, very strange indeed! Your fine and fascinating nature, central composition does a good job of presenting it to us. Hope one of those icicles did not drop on you! Exposure and sharpness are good. Well done and good luck!

We had an ice storm over the past weekend, but I didn't see anything like this. I guess it is the work of the wind. An unusual bit of ice in a well composed shot. Best of luck in the contest.
