wow,,awesome still the same. The colour is gorgeous, great lighting and focus to take all this one in. Too bad they placed it in such an ugly place though, with all the pipes ect showing, but I guess the only other place to see this beauty is in the wild. Great capture though

    Thanks yes a few photographers were wishing they had covered the framework but guess it gives a good perspective of size against glasshouse :-)

A nice capture of a quite rare event but I am sure you felt the wait was well worth it. The image is clear within the confines of its location and I imagine you would not want to spend too long there in view of its well documented odour. Many thanks.

didnt i see this monster on the "lil shop of horrors"? wink. the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of the flower is great. the capture of the light is great. the image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

Mary,
A beautiful picture of the unique Titan arum flower in bloom with it's trumpet shape & tall cone shaped pistil...beautiful to look at but with it's odour I'm sure you had no desire to linger in his presence. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting with superb camera techniques with sharp focus.
Susan

    Thanks Susan, wasn't as bad as I expected I have come across people with bad breath worse than this flower - but the door to glasshouse had been open since 6 am and the guy looking after it said it was shocking when he opened up after enclosed for night. :)

I have seen one at the Kew Garden near London; almost impossible to take a pic because of the smell;
a unique capture;

    Thanks Fred, definitely not the best smell but an amazing flower to view. :) Mary

Congratulations on your capture, I don't know if I'd have the patience to tend to something so long and have it die right after it blooms! Let alone have it smell like rotting flesh...but none the less it is an interesting looking plant! It almost looks like a vase with an odd looking plant inside. Thank you for the sub...Steve H.

Some 15 years ago I had a friend who got one of these to bloom. An amazing flower with a distinct perfume that is pollenated by flies. A fine shot of this rarity. Excellent colors although the greenhouse trappings are both understandable and unfortunate.

    Thanks Mike, agree on background distractions but also gives the viewer the impact of height when it is reaching roof of glasshouse. Cheers Mary

The only time I have seen or heard about this plant was in a nature program on TV, and it must have something else to actually see it with your own eyes. It is indeed impressive, but I also think it is beautiful with the almost black petals. If course the background is not the best, but I do appreciate that you did not have much of a choice, and the flower is standing out really well anyway.

Your photo is nice and sharp showing such fine and clear details in the flower, and I also think you have captured the textures very well. It is lovely the way the light is falling on it, and I think the exposure is perfect.

It is nothing wrong with the composition either. I can't even think of any suggestions of improvement, because the flower looks good centered like this. For sure a different and well taken flower shot, and with a good DOF.

    Thanks so much Annie, yes I think a lot of photographers there would have liked a better background was amazing to see in real life.
