Congratulations on your win. It really is a fantastic photo. Did you get down low...actually, did you literally lay down on the tracks in order to get this shot? Well, if you did, I commend you. The track itself is off centered (a plus in the photo world) and it leads the eye straight into the fog itself, which makes this simply magnificent. I also like how the trees on both sides of the track become a frame of the fog. Great overall composition. Thanks for sharing. Personally, I am glad you won. This was a tough contest....lots of good entries. I had my top three picked out....none was mine, but one was yours (smile).

Thank you so much for the very kind review. I have a small tripod that I used and I positioned it just above the tracks. Also the screen on my Csnnon flips out and can be placed in position so I don't have to get that low just the camera. Mary Eileen

Good for you. At least you did not have to get down there on the cold tracks/ground. and get dirty (smile). Have a good day.

Love it. Great perspective here. Really like the low angle. Nice leading lines into your photo as well. Make one wonder as to where the tracks will take you into the foggy beyond. Excellent composition along with splendid detail and clarity. Well done

This is a compelling image, you want to see what's beyond the fog? Your POV and DOF are just fine...the moisture on the ties and rails adds an interesting feel to the whole image...nice job...Good luck on the contest...Steve H.

This photo has many emotions from one scene. It depicts an abyss of beauty, but yet very cryptic enigma that you might not want to walk down the tracks. The focus and exposure is spot on.

A fine shot from an excellent perspective. The colors are suitably drab and the feel of the fog is palpable. Best of luck in the contest.

Beautiful photograph with excellent framing and use of one-point perspective! Great contrast, focus, and detail captured. Nice composition and suspenseful view leaving us thinking that someone or something could appear in the distant fog at any moment. Thanks for sharing this wonderful photo and best of luck in the contest!

Curious. Did you set your camera on the track and shoot or did you get low? Not important, just curious. Love the way the track leads us to the vanishing point. Best of luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

Thank you. Paul I just bought one of those Joby tripods that are very short and have legs that twist and turn in all directions. So, using that tripod I was able to get the camera height just above the rail. The light level was very low at 6:30 AM so I had a very slow shutter speed and needed to steady the camera somehow. I bought it from Amazon online. I love it. I use it a lot for my candle pics and still lifes when using candle light as the only light source.

This is a well done photo that expresses a mood. The perspective is interesting and the fog lends a mystery to the image. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Brian. Must be my past medical training that always taught me to look beyond the obvious. :)
