Hi Meg!
I've never used a Quill but I've used Fountain pens like the one you've pictured here lots of times!
That's an interesting picture!
I'm not sure about the focus as it seems to be going 'in and out' across the picture but on the whole it's a Good Show,my friend!

Very nice Macro shot. The shadow and subtle colors make this an easy on the eye work of art. Nicely done. Thank you for posting.

I absolutely adore the simplicity of this subject. The texture of the surface which disappears as the picture brightens toward the back. The angle and sharpness of the nib great. I love that you almost get a reflection in the nib. The line of the pen and its shadow then lead you into the back for the picture. I think the choice to focus on the nib and closely frame the shot without the whole pen was a good one. I thoroughly enjoyed this picture. Thanks for sharing.

I seems to me that when first learning to write with ink, we used something like this. Not as nice though. What a mess! Not your picture, I'm talking children and ink. Your image is lovely. When working this close, with such a narrow dof, it can be difficult. The sharp point of the nib is the focal point here and the line down the center draws the viewer to the rest of the subject. The shadow adds interest to the image as a whole. Actually, very good job.

Great macro shot of the tip of this pen. Excellent clarity and lighting. The color looks more sepia tone than black and white. Good DOF and great initial impact. Well done. ~Alveria

At first I had a problem with the pen being centered and the focal point is at the base of the pen head. But upon further review I noticed the angle of the shadow which made the photo very interesting. Good job

Thank you. I actually rotated the photo a bit to make sure the shadow was obvious to the viewer. I especially liked the way the light showed through the opening in the Nib.

A very nice shot of the business end of this old pen. The colors are attractive and the shallow depth of field focuses attention where it belongs. Best of luck in the contest.
