A very nice painting. You have captured the bold and curious nature of the bird well. Nice detail in the bird and a fine color palette. Good luck in the contest.

This is a great painting with hints of photography. Great strokes to creating living grass and the birds feathers are very natural. The face shows great focus as the search for food ensues.

Very nice! What a beautiful snapshot and so well done, I almost couldn't tell it was a digital art piece, but rather a paining. Had it been a painting, I would have thought, wow, it almost looks like a photograph. Either way, you had me impressed and I would have given the same, high rating. The only reason why I didn't give the full 6 stars is because you mention the tail in the description of this bird, and it's not showing in the picture. I would have LOVED to see it. May be in your next rendition. Thank you.

Thank you very much for your kind review and your high rating. I have several paintings and photos of those birds in my portfolio but cannot reveal jet who I am. I will post other paintings, with and without tail, in the future.

One spag that I picked up in your descriptor...scarps should be scraps. I like the contrast between the bird and background and the crispness in the detail of the beak. There doesn't appear to be enough light in the bird's eye and perhaps a fan brush could have been utilized to the feathers on the back. However, I am unfamiliar with this particular bird so may be unfair in my critique. Cheers Frances

Thank you very much for picking the spelling mistake. I don't know why I still use that automatic spell check. I and up always with someyhing wrong. I will correct it right away. Thanks also for your inputs but I believe a fan brush would not be adequate for the slik feathers of the bird. I will think about the light, but non of my dozens of photos show this nor the book references I used. Nevertheless I will consult more compedions.

So well done. The colors are true to life for a male Grackle with excellent details in the wing and face/beak. The eye is especially arresting and instantly captures the attention. Very well done and best of fortune in the contest ~ Steve
